Optimal Times for Prayer
Prayer is regarded as one of the most significant acts of worship, and Allah – the Most High – has commanded us to engage in it, promising us answers to our supplications. He states in the Quran: (And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you”). The most favorable times for prayer include the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), during the pre-dawn hours, between the call to prayer and the commencement of the prayer, at the time of the obligatory prayers, during rainfall, the last hour before sunset on Fridays, while in prostration, when saying “Ameen” in prayers, during the pilgrimage (Hajj and Umrah), when visiting the sick, on the Day of Arafah, throughout the month of Ramadan, and many other blessed times in which one should strive to engage in supplication.
Prophetic Supplications for Peace of Mind
Numerous supplications from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) have been recorded in authentic hadiths. Below are some of these supplications:
- (O Allah, I ask You for all goodness, both immediate and delayed, that I know of and that which I do not know. I seek refuge in You from all evil, both immediate and delayed, that I know of and that which I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your servant and prophet has asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what Your servant and prophet sought refuge from. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and for deeds that bring me closer to it, and I seek refuge in You from Hellfire and from deeds that bring me closer to it. I ask You to make every decree You have decreed for me a good one.)
- (O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and Lord of the mighty Throne, Our Lord and the Lord of all things, Splitting the grain and the date stones, and the One who sent down the Torah, the Gospel, and the Criterion, I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You hold by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First, and there is nothing before You; You are the Last, and there is nothing after You; You are the Manifest, and there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden, and there is nothing below You. Relieve us of our debts and enrich us from poverty.)
- (O Allah, grant me light in my heart, light on my tongue, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light above me, light below me, light to my right, light to my left, light before me, light behind me, and place light within myself, and magnify for me the light.)
- (O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and no one forgives sins except You. So forgive me with an overwhelming forgiveness for You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.)
- (O Allah, rectify for me my religion, for it is my safeguard; rectify for me my worldly affairs, for it is my sustenance; and rectify for me my Hereafter, for it is my eternal return. Make my life an increase for me in all that is good, and make my death a relief from all that is evil.)
- (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sadness, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming debt and oppression of men.)
- (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the disappearance of Your blessings, the change of Your health, the suddenness of Your wrath, and from all of Your displeasure.)
- (O Allah, forgive me my sins, all of them, whether small or large, first or last, manifest or hidden.)

- O Allah, I ask You in my prayers and supplications for a blessing to purify my heart, to reveal my distress, to forgive my sins, to rectify my affairs, to enrich my poverty, to eliminate my harm, to uncover my worries and sorrows, to heal my ailments, to fulfill my debts, to alleviate my sadness, to unite my community, and to brighten my face, O Most Merciful of the merciful, O Most Generous of the Generous.
- O Allah, I extend my hands to You, and my desire for what is with You is profound. Accept my repentance, have mercy on my weak strength, forgive my mistakes, accept my apology, and make for me a share of all goodness and guide me towards every good through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, do not deprive me of the vastness of Your mercy, the comprehensiveness of Your health, and the abundance of Your blessings. Do not turn Your noble face away from me, for indeed, I rely on Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, I submit to You, place my faith in You, rely upon You, and dispute with You, so forgive me what I have done in haste and what I have done slowly, what I have concealed and what I have declared. You are the Forerunner and the Delayer; there is no deity except You.
- O Allah, take my soul while I am prostrating before You, with a heart that beats with reverence for You and remembrance of You. O Allah, grant me a good ending and help me in my obedience to You.
