The Prophet’s Prayers for His Companions and Loved Ones

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to pray for his companions, and among his prayers was:

  • It was narrated by the Mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: “When I saw the Prophet’s state of goodness, I said: O Messenger of Allah, pray for me. He said: O Allah, forgive Aisha’s past and future sins, her hidden and public sins. Aisha laughed until her head fell into her lap from laughter. The Messenger of Allah then said: Does my prayer make you happy? She replied: What could make me happier than your prayer? He said: By Allah, this is my prayer for my Ummah in every prayer.”
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) also prayed for Anas bin Malik, where it was stated that Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the Prophet: “O Messenger of Allah, your servant Anas, pray for him.” He said: “O Allah, grant him abundant wealth and children, and bless him in what You have given him.”
  • He prayed for Ja’far bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: “O Allah, replace Ja’far in his family, and bless Abdullah in the business of his right hand.”
  • “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) seldom stood from a gathering without praying these words for his companions: O Allah, grant us from Your fear that which would prevent us from disobedience to You, from obedience that would lead us to Paradise, from certainty that would ease the trials of this world, and make our hearing, sight, and strength persistent as long as You keep us alive. Make them as our inheritors, and let us seek revenge on those who wronged us. Grant us victory over those who oppose us, and do not make our calamity in our religion. Do not make this world our greatest concern or the extent of our knowledge, and do not assign those who have no mercy over us to control us.”
