Authentic Supplications Recommended Before Fajr
The time leading up to Fajr, extending until the conclusion of the prayer, is regarded as one of the most auspicious moments for supplication and devotion to Allah – the Exalted. Among the recorded supplications, a few notable ones have been gathered from various sources, one of which is a weak hadith:
- (O Allah, I ask You for mercy from You that guides my heart, gathers my affairs, mends my disarray, corrects my absent matters, elevates my present state, purifies my actions, inspires my guidance, restores my community, and protects me from all evil. O Allah, grant me faith and certainty that leaves no room for disbelief. Bestow upon me, through Your mercy, the honor of Your grace in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for victory in judgment, the company of the martyrs, happiness in life, and success over enemies.)
- (O Allah, I turn to You with my needs, recognizing my shortcomings and my weak deeds. I rely on Your mercy and ask You, O Judge of affairs and Healer of hearts, to protect me from the torment of the Hellfire, from the call for destruction, and from the trials of the graves. O Allah, whatever I am unable to request, and whatever I have not reached in my intentions or supplications that You have promised to any of Your creation, or any good that you have granted to any of Your servants, I turn to You with hope and implore You, by Your mercy, O Lord of the worlds.)
- (O Allah, the One of the strong cord and the wise decree, I ask You for safety on the Day of Reckoning and paradise on the Day of Eternity, alongside the closest witnesses: those who bow and prostrate, who fulfill their obligations. Indeed, You are Most Merciful and Loving, and You do what You will. O Allah, make us rightly guided and guiding others, not astray nor leading others astray, at peace with Your allies and foes to Your enemies. We love, through Your love, those who love You, and we oppose, through Your enmity, those who oppose You. O Allah, this is the supplication, and the answer is upon You. This effort is my reliance on You.)
- (O Allah, grant me light in my heart, light in my grave, light in front of me, light behind me, light to my right, light to my left, light above me, light below me, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light in my hair, light in my skin, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones. O Allah, magnify my light, bestow upon me light, and make for me light.)
- (Glory be to Him who adorns Himself with might and is recognized by it. Glory be to Him who wears majesty and graces Himself with it. Glory be to Him to whom no praise is due but Him alone. Glory be to the Most Generous and the Benefactor, glory be to Him of grandeur and honor, glory be to Him of glory and generosity.)
Diverse Recommended Supplications Before or After Fajr
The doors of supplication remain open to the believer at any time they wish to call upon their Creator. While some times bear greater significance than others, the time of Fajr is particularly noteworthy and should be utilized for prayer. The following are some supplications that are highly encouraged to recite:
- O Allah, grant me health among those You have granted health and protect me from what You have decreed.
- O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and sustenance.
- O Allah, on this blessed night, I ask You to bless my provision and extend my life.
- O Allah, O Preserver, I beseech You by Your noble countenance to support Muslims around the world.
- O Allah, O Reliever of worries, O Answerer of prayers, I ask You to lift from our nation all calamity and suffering.
- My Lord, forgive me and my parents, and protect me and my offspring from the accursed devil.
- O Allah, on this night, do not leave a sin without forgiving it, nor a sick person without curing them, nor a supplicant without granting their request.
