The Sons of Our Lord Noah (Peace be upon him)

Children of the Prophet Noah (Peace Be Upon Him)

Historically, it is reported that the Prophet Noah (PBUH) had four sons. Three of them, namely Shem, Ham, and Japheth, embraced their father’s message and followed him, while the fourth son rejected faith and perished in the flood. Some sources identify this son as Canaan, while others refer to him as Yam. Ibn Kathir mentions, “The fourth son, named Yam, was a disbeliever.” Additionally, there are some accounts which suggest that Noah (PBUH) had a daughter, whose name was reported to be Eber.

Noah’s Wife and Children

Noah’s wife is said to have been named Walegah; however, she did not believe in her husband as a prophet sent by Allah (SWT) and chose to remain an idolater, adhering to the faith of her people. She maintained contact with those who opposed Noah and would inform them of everything happening in the household. This treachery continued, leading her further astray until she met the same fate as her people—drowning and destruction.

Noah’s Call to His People

Allah (SWT) sent His Prophet Noah (PBUH) to guide his people back to the path of monotheism after they had deviated and clung to idol worship in search of goodness from these false deities. Noah (PBUH) showed incredible patience toward his people’s mistreatment and employed various methods to lead them to the worship of Allah and save them from polytheism. Despite his repeated efforts, the people persisted in their disbelief, ridiculed their prophet, and caused him much harm. Over the course of nine hundred fifty years, only eighty men and women came to believe in him. When Allah (SWT) revealed to Noah that no further believers would emerge, Noah invoked destruction upon his people. Consequently, Allah commanded him to build the Ark and to take the faithful aboard, preparing for the impending calamity that would befall the disbelievers. Allah commanded the earth to absorb the water and the sky to cease the rain, leading to the end of the disbelievers and the salvation of Noah and his followers.
