Authentic Prophetic Supplications

Many authentic Hadiths recommend reciting certain supplications at any time. Among these are:

  • (O Allah, I ask You for all kinds of good, both immediate and delayed, what I know of and what I do not know, and I seek refuge in You from all kinds of evil, both immediate and delayed, what I know of and what I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your servant and Prophet has asked of You, and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what Your servant and Prophet has sought refuge from. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings me closer to it, in word or deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings me closer to it, in word or deed. And I ask You to make every decree You have decreed for me good).
  • (O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, grant me life if You know that life is good for me, and take my soul if You know that death is good for me. O Allah, I ask You for fear of You in secret and in public, and I ask You for a just statement in pleasure and anger, and I ask You for moderation in poverty and wealth. I ask You for a delight that never ends, and I ask You for the joy of seeing Your face and longing to meet You without harmful adversity or misleading trials. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us guides who are guided).
  • (O Turner of hearts, make my heart steadfast in Your religion).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, a heart that does not humble, a supplication that is not heard, and a soul that is never satisfied. He then says: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from these four).
  • (O Allah, I hope for Your mercy; do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye, and rectify all of my affairs. There is no deity except You).

  • The supplication of the fasting person who breaks their fast with others.

(The fasting ones have broken their fast with you, the angels have prayed for you, and the righteous have eaten your food).

(O Allah, bring it upon us with blessings, faith, safety, and Islam. My Lord and Your Lord is Allah).

  • The supplication for night prayer and standing in worship.

(O Allah, all praise is due to You; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You belongs all praise; You are the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You belongs all praise; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You belongs all praise; You are the King of the heavens and the earth; You are the Truth, and Your promise is true. Meeting You is true; Your words are true; Paradise is true; the Fire is true; the Prophets are true; and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is true; and the Hour is true. O Allah, I have surrendered to You, and I have believed in You, and I have put my trust in You, and to You do I turn in repentance, and by You do I argue, and to You do I submit. Forgive me for what I have done in the past and what I have delayed, what I have concealed and what I have proclaimed. You are the Foremost, and You are the Last; there is no deity except You).
