  • (رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ) – “Our Lord, give us in this world good and also good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us from Yourself mercy.”
My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearing of supplication.”
Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our matter right guidance.”
  • (رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ) – “My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and many from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.”
He said, ‘My Lord, expand for me my breast and ease for me my task.'”

Prayers from the Prophetic Tradition (Hadith)

This section highlights some of the prayers that have been transmitted through the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Here are several notable examples:

You created me, and I am Your servant. I am upon Your covenant and promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I acknowledge my sins. So forgive me; for none can forgive sins except You.”
  • (رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لي خَطِيئَتي وجَهْلِي، وإسْرَافِي في أمْرِي كُلِّهِ، وما أنْتَ أعْلَمُ به مِنِّي) – “My Lord, forgive me my sins and my ignorance, and my excess in my affairs, and what You know better than me.”
  • (اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ لي دِينِي الذي هو عِصْمَةُ أَمْرِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لي دُنْيَايَ الَّتي فِيهَا معاشِي، وَأَصْلِحْ لي آخِرَتي الَّتي فِيهَا معادِي، وَاجْعَلِ الحَيَاةَ زِيَادَةً لي في كُلِّ خَيْرٍ، وَاجْعَلِ المَوْتَ رَاحَةً لي مِن كُلِّ شَرٍّ) – “O Allah, rectify my religion which is my safeguard, rectify my worldly affairs in which is my livelihood, and rectify my Hereafter to which is my return. Make life for me a source of goodness, and make death a relief for me from every evil.”
  • (اللهمَّ إنِّي عبدُك، وابن عبدِك، وابن أَمَتِك، ناصيتي بيدِك، ماضٍ فيَّ حكمُك، عدلٌ فيَّ قضاؤُك) – “O Allah, I am Your servant, and the son of Your servant and the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your command upon me is established, and Your decree upon me is just. I ask You by every name that You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sorrow, and the departure of my anxiety.”
  • (اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَعُوذُ بكَ مِنَ العَجْزِ، وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْجُبْنِ، وَالْبُخْلِ، وَالْهَرَمِ، وَعَذَابِ القَبْرِ) – “O Allah, I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the punishment of the grave.”
O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment.”

Diverse Prayers

Engaging in prayer strengthens the bond between a servant and their Lord. Here are some beautiful prayers that believers can turn to in seeking Allah’s guidance:

  • O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and no one forgives sins except You. So grant me a forgiveness from Yourself and have mercy upon me, for You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
  • O Allah, with Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, give me life as long as You know that living is better for me, and take my soul when You know that death is better for me.
  • O Allah, I ask You for fear of You in secret and in public, for truthful speech in both pleasure and anger, and for moderation in wealth and poverty.
  • O Allah, grant me from this world what will protect me from its trials, enrich me against its people, and guide me toward what is better than it, for there is no might and no power except with You.
  • O Allah, do not allow my enemies to rejoice in my illness. Make the Quran my healing and remedy, for I am afflicted, and You are the Healer. You are my trust and hope; let my good opinion of You be my cure.
  • O Allah, safeguard me in Islam while standing, sitting, and lying down. Do not let my enemy or envious rival rejoice in my distress.
  • O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
  • O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and wealth. Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me health, and provide for me.
  • O Allah, I ask You for every good whose treasures are in Your hands, and I seek refuge in You from every evil whose treasures are also in Your hands. O Allah, Director of hearts, direct our hearts toward Your obedience.
  • O Allah, forgive me my sins, my ignorance, and my excess in my affairs, and what You know better than I.
  • O Allah, make us among those who open the door to patience, distance themselves from despair, withstand severe punishment, and cross the bridge of passions.
