Quranic Verses Mentioning the Heart

Quranic Verses Where the Word “Fu’ad” is Used to Mean Heart

The heart and “fu’ad” hold a significant place in humanity, serving as the center of emotions, feelings, and sensory perception. Several verses illustrate this concept:

  • Allah -the Exalted- says: (And We relate to you the stories of the messengers so We may make firm your heart. And this has come to you in truth and as a reminder and a lesson for the believers).
  • Allah -the Exalted- states: (And do not follow that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart, about all those [you will be] questioned).
  • Allah -the Exalted- declares: (And those who disbelieved said, “Why was the Quran not revealed to him all at once?” Thus, We may strengthen your heart with it, and We arranged it in precise order).
  • Allah -the Exalted- mentions: (And the heart of the mother of Moses became empty; she was about to disclose [her secret] if We had not bound her heart so that she would be of the believers).
  • Allah -the Exalted- affirms: (The heart did not lie about what it saw).

Quranic Verses on Creation Where the Word “Fu’ad” Appears

Allah, the Almighty, created hearts and “fu’ad” beautifully. The following verses relate to this aspect of creation:

  • Allah -the Exalted- says: (And Allah brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers while you knew nothing. And He made for you hearing, sight, and hearts; perhaps you will be grateful).
  • Allah -the Exalted- mentions: (Then He fashioned him and breathed into him of His Spirit and made for you hearing, sight, and hearts; little are you grateful).
  • Allah -the Exalted- articulates: (Say, “He is the one who created you and made for you hearing, sight, and hearts; little are you grateful”).
  • Allah -the Exalted- asserts: (And We have certainly established them in that which We have not established you, and We made for them hearing, sight, and hearts; but their hearing, sight, and hearts did not avail them at all since they were denying the signs of Allah, and there encompassed them what they used to ridicule).
  • Allah -the Exalted- states: (And He is the one who created for you hearing, sight, and hearts; little are you grateful).

Quranic Verses on the Purity of Hearts and “Fu’ad”

The Quran emphasizes the importance of the purity and safety of hearts in the following verses:

  • Allah -the Exalted- declares: (The day when his Lord comes to him with a sound heart).
  • Allah -the Exalted- states: (Who feared the Most Merciful unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance]).
  • Allah -the Exalted- mentions: (Indeed, in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present).
  • Allah -the Exalted- articulates: (No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being. Indeed, for Allah that, is easy. And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things).

Quranic Verses on Hard-Heartedness and Deprivation

The Quran also addresses the issue of hardened hearts, as seen in the following verses:

  • Allah -the Exalted- says: (And let their hearts be inclined to it, and let them delight in it, and let them earn what they are earning).
  • Allah -the Exalted- mentions: (And We turn their hearts and their eyes as they did not believe in it the first time. And We leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly).
  • Allah -the Exalted- states: (Rushing forward with heads raised high; their gaze does not return to them, and their hearts are void).
  • Allah -the Exalted- articulates: (And We have certainly destined for Hell many among the jinn and mankind. They have hearts by which they do not understand, and they have eyes by which they do not see, and they have ears by which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless).
