Supplications from the Prophetic Tradition
The Prophetic tradition includes numerous supplications practiced by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and advised to his companions, including:
- (O Allah, rectify my religion, which is my safeguard; and rectify my worldly affairs in which I earn my living; and rectify my Hereafter, in which my return will be. And make this life an increase for me in every good, and make death a relief for me from every evil).
- (O Allah, forgive my sin, my ignorance, and my excesses in my affairs, and what You know better than me. O Allah, forgive my seriousness and my frivolity, my unintentional errors and my deliberate ones; all of that is within me. O Allah, forgive what I have done in the past and what I may do in the future, what I have concealed and what I have made known, and what You know better than me. You are the Forerunner and You are the Last, and You are capable of all things).
- (O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion).
- (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sadness, from incapacity and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from the burden of debt, and from the oppression of men).
- (Glory is to You, O Allah; our Lord, we praise You. O Allah, forgive me).
- (O Allah, forgive all my sins, both small and great, first and last, open and hidden).
- (O Allah, grant us in this world a good and in the Hereafter a good, and save us from the punishment of the Fire).
- (O Allah, You are the Forgiving who loves forgiveness, so forgive me).
Diverse Supplications
A Muslim is permitted to pray for whatever is good in this world and the Hereafter, even if it is not explicitly mentioned in the Quran or the Prophetic tradition. Below are some such supplications:
- O Allah, may the best part of my life be its end, may the best of my deeds be its conclusion, and may the best of my days be the day I meet You.
- O Allah, establish my footing in goodness, relieve my distress after death, and bless me in my destiny and transitions. Do not let my sins bring shame upon me, O ultimate desire, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, if my sins and transgressions have created a barrier between me and You in fulfilling my needs, I ask You by the majesty of Your face and greatness of Your status, and I turn to You, seeking Your forgiveness and mercy. Grant me what I need, relieve my distress, and alleviate my worries.
- O Allah, treat us with Your kindness, embrace us with Your grace, shelter us with Your mercy and forgiveness, and make us among Your righteous servants who have no fear nor sadness.
- O Allah, may those who intend harm against me have it returned upon them, and may those who conspire against me be thwarted. O Allah, guide them and guide us all. May I be among Your most righteous servants, favored and close to You, and granted nearness to You.
- O Allah, my sins have left me with no hope but in Your forgiveness. I present my state before You in humble supplication, for no one knows my condition better than You.
- O Allah, bring joy to every heart in pain, alleviate their worries, and grant them contentment, happiness, and peace with You; make it a blessed day filled with Your satisfaction, O Allah.
