Prayers for Relief from Distress in the Holy Quran
The Holy Quran was revealed as a mercy to the believers, serving as a source of healing and blessing. While there are no specific supplications solely designated for alleviating distress, we present several verses from the Quran that can be utilized for this purpose:
- (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those who have received Your grace, not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.)
- (To Allah belongs all praise, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of all worlds. And to Him belongs greatness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.)
- (All praise is due to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve equal (others) with their Lord.)
- (He is Allah; there is no deity except Him. He is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. He is Allah; there is no deity except Him, the Sovereign, the Most Sacred, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Guardian, the Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Initiator, the Designer. To Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth glorifies Him, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.)
- (All praise is due to Allah, Who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviation. (It is) upright to warn of a severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward wherein they will remain forever.)
Supplications for Relief from Distress from the Sunnah
Believers can turn to Allah, the Almighty, using the supplications found in the noble Sunnah at any time and under any circumstances. Here are some noteworthy supplications:
- (O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I am adhering to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I admit my sins. Forgive me, for none can forgive sins except You.)
- (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from stinginess and cowardice, from being burdened by debt, and from the oppression of men.)
- (O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand, Your decree over me is executed, and Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name You have, which You named Yourself or taught to one of Your creation or revealed in Your Book, or You preserved with Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sadness, and the departure of my worry.)
