Prayers of Praise to God

Supplications Praising Allah with His Attributes of the Most Merciful and the Most Compassionate

It is encouraged for a Muslim to begin their supplication to Allah – the Almighty – by praising Him and expressing gratitude for His countless blessings, followed by a request for fulfilling their needs. They should conclude their supplication with further praise to Allah – the Almighty.

  • (All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the straight path, the path of those You have blessed, not of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor of those who have gone astray).
  • O Most Merciful of the merciful, my companion in times of distress, my comfort in solitude, my guardian in times of bounty, my protector in my soul, O Remover of my troubles, O Listener of my supplications, O Comforter of my tears, O Forgiver of my shortcomings, my God in truth, my steadfast support, my compassionate Lord, O Lord of the ancient house, O Reliever of worries, Remover of grief, and the One who sends down rain, and Respondent to the supplication of the distressed, O Most Merciful of the worlds, You who remove every harm and calamity, O Knower of all that is hidden, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
  • O Allah, O Most Gracious, O Most Merciful, I praise You in the past and the future, I praise You in the highest assembly until the Day of Judgment, and I praise You at all times. I praise You as long as the sun rises and sets, I praise You as per the count of Your creation, the pleasure of Yourself, the weight of Your throne, and the ink of Your words.

Supplications Praising Allah with His Attributes of Forgiveness

  • (All praise is due to Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth; to Him belongs praise in the Hereafter, and He is the Wise, the All-Aware. He knows what enters the earth and what emerges from it, and what descends from the sky and what ascends to it, and He is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving).
  • (O Allah, I ask You, as You are the One, the Absolute, who did not beget nor was begotten, and there is none comparable to You, to forgive me my sins; indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful).
  • O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I am on Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for none can forgive sins except You.
  • (My Lord, assist me and do not assist against me; grant me victory and do not let me be defeated; devise for me, and do not let those who plot against me succeed; guide me, and make guidance easy for me; grant me victory over those who have wronged me. My Lord, make me grateful to You, remember You often, revere You, and submit to You. To You, I am humbled; grant me repentance, wash away my mistakes, answer my supplications, affirm my proof, guide my heart, direct my tongue, and cleanse my heart’s malice).
  • (O Allah, You are the King; there is no god but You. You are my Lord, and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and acknowledged my sins. Forgive all my sins, for none grants forgiveness except You; guide me to the best morals, for none guides to the best of them except You; and divert from me the evil ones, for none can divert them from me except You. Here I am at Your service, and all goodness is in Your hands; evil is not directed towards You. I am with You and to You, blessed and exalted, I seek Your forgiveness, and I turn towards You).
  • (O Allah, all praise is due to You; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all therein. And all praise is due to You; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all therein. And all praise is due to You; You are the Truth, and Your promise is true, and Your word is true, and Your meeting is true, and Paradise is true, and Hell is true, and the Hour is true, and the Prophets are true, and Muhammad is true. O Allah, to You I submit, upon You I rely, in You I believe, to You I revert, with You I contend, and to You I adjudicate. Forgive me what I have put forth and what I have delayed, what I have concealed and what I have disclosed. You are the Advance and You are the Delay; there is no god but You).
  • (O Allah, all praise is due to You, filling the heavens and filling the earth, and filling whatever else You wish thereafter. O Allah, cleanse me with snow, hail, and cold water. O Allah, purify me from sins and mistakes, as a white garment is purified from dirt).

Supplications Praising Allah with His Attributes of Justice and Fairness

  • (All praise is due to Allah, who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in the kingdom, nor does He have a protector out of humiliation).
  • (O Allah, I am Your servant, and the son of Your servant, and the son of Your maid, my forelock is in Your hand. Your decree upon me is ongoing, and Your judgment upon me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, which You named Yourself, or taught to one of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or You have kept to Yourself, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my breast, the remedy for my sadness, and the removal of my anxiety).
  • (O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, Michael, and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the hidden and the witnessed; You judge between Your servants regarding their differing matters. Guide me to the truth in what they differ about, by Your permission. Indeed, You guide whom You will to a straight path).

  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You from You— I cannot enumerate praise for You. You are as You have praised Yourself).
  • Glory be to Allah, all praise is due to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power nor strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great, as many as He has created, as many as He is creating, as heavy as His creation, as heavy as His creation, and filled to His creation and filled to His creation, and filled in the heavens and filled on earth, and more than that, and multiplied, and the number of His creation, and the weight of His throne, and the extent of His mercy, and the ink of His words, and the measure of His pleasure until He is pleased. And when He is pleased, as many as He has mentioned by His creation in all that has passed, and as many as they will remember in what remains, in every year, month, direction, day, night, hour, breath, from the age to come, the age of the world, and the age of the Hereafter, and more than that).
