Qur’anic Verses for Ruqyah
The following Qur’anic verses are commonly recited during ruqyah:
- (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.)
- (Alif Lam Mim. This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah. Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them. And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.)
- (Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.)
- (The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they said, “We hear and we obey. [Grant us] Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination. Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.)
- (And they followed what the devils had recited during the kingdom of Solomon. And Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. And they did not teach anyone until they said, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve.” And from them, people learn that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah. And they learn what harms them and does not benefit them. And they certainly knew that he who purchased it would not have in the Hereafter any share, and wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.)
- (And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers. And it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.)
- (They said, “O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw.” He said, “Rather, you throw.” And when they threw, their ropes and their staffs appeared to him from their magic that they were moving. And Moses felt in himself apprehension. We said, “Fear not. Indeed, you are the most high. And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. Indeed, what they have crafted is only a magician’s trick, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is.” )
- The entire Surah of Al-Kafirun, the two Mu’awwidhat (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas), and Surah Al-Ikhlas.
