Verses for Attracting Abundance
While the Holy Quran does not contain specific verses solely dedicated to attracting abundance, we cannot claim that any verse is exclusively meant for this purpose. However, engaging in the recitation of the Quran generally brings about blessings; obedience to God leads to prosperity, while disobedience can hinder it. As stated by Allah – the Almighty – in the Quran: (And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out, and provide for him from where he does not expect). Nonetheless, several verses indicate the arrival of sustenance and outline the avenues through which it comes:
- Allah – the Almighty – says: (Say, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send rain from the sky upon you in abundance and give you increase in wealth and children and make for you gardens and make for you rivers’).
- Allah – the Almighty – states: (And ask forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him. He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every possessor of merit his merit. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great day).
- Allah – the Almighty – proclaims: (And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send rain from the sky upon you in abundance and increase you in strength, to your strength, and do not turn away as criminals).
- Allah – the Almighty – remarks: (And if the people of those cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened up to them blessings from the heavens and the earth. But they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning).
Surahs for Attracting Abundance
There is no specific Surah in the Quran designated for attracting abundance, nor is there evidence that certain Surahs possess unique merits in this regard. Although a hadith regarding Surah Al-Waqi’ah has been transmitted, it is classified as weak. The hadith narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Surah Al-Waqi’ah every night will never experience poverty.”
Some scholars permit the use of weak hadiths to encourage virtuous actions. Surah Al-Waqi’ah, with its descriptions of Paradise and Hell, inspires its readers to turn away from worldly materialism, thus reassuring them of the rewards that await in the Hereafter, prompting them to strive for their eternal abode.
Supplications for Attracting Abundance
In addition to general remembrance of Allah, certain supplications specifically aim to attract sustenance. These include:
- The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised: “Say, O Allah, forgive me, have mercy upon me, guide me, and grant me sustenance, for I have combined for you my worldly and my Hereafter needs.”
- In another narration, the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “O Allah, forgive us our sins and errors, whether committed in jest or earnest, and all of that which lies within us. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the overwhelming of debt, from being overpowered by others, and from the gloating of enemies.”
- After every obligatory prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would recite: “There is no deity but Allah alone with no partner. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him is all praise, and He is over all things competent. O Allah, none can withhold what You grant, and none can give what You prevent, and wealth does not avail against You.”
- The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: “O Lord of the heavens and the earth, and our Lord and the Lord of everything, Breaker of the seed and the date stone, and the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, I seek refuge with You from the evil of everything that You control. You are the First, and there is nothing before You; You are the Last, and there is nothing after You; You are the Exalted, and there is nothing above You; and You are the Hidden, and there is nothing below You. Erase my debts and relieve me from poverty.”
- Additionally, the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned: If someone has a mountain of gold as a debt and calls upon Allah with the following, Allah will fulfill it for him: “O Allah, Remover of distress, Solver of problems, Respondent to the calls of the distressed, Merciful of this world and the Hereafter, have mercy upon me with a mercy that will suffice me from the mercy of others.”
