Reflections on Travel
- Travel continually allows us to make new friends without the obligation of daily interactions.
- It transforms individuals into humble beings, reminding us of our small place in the vast world.
- My dreams are boundless; every country is my home, and the hearts of its people are my nationality. Discard my passport, I say.
- Sometimes, to discover what is near, one must travel far.
- Even if time travel proves impossible, it is essential to comprehend the reasons behind that impossibility.
- When I embark on a journey, I do not merely distance myself geographically; I also detach from all that ties me to my residence. This is the essence of travel.
- Those who seek rapid travel must navigate the ancient paths.
- My complex equation: I love to travel but detest leaving.
- Those who observe extensively during their travels learn abundantly.
- Narrow-mindedness stems from a lack of travel.
- People do not travel to arrive; they travel for the sake of traveling.
- Home allows you to discover the world, whereas travel enables you to discover yourself.
- From the beginning, we have traveled not merely as a means of transit but more as a form of displacement, struggle, and even loss — driven to exchange one journey for another in our quest to unleash the muted cries that bind us by considerations of sanctity in place and the irony of time.
Thoughts on Travel Adventures
- The adventure itself is worthy of attention.
- True adventure lies not outside of us but within.
- All new adventures can be intimidating.
- Bold adventures yield greater success.
- Those who dare to venture to the farthest horizons are the only ones who truly grasp the extent of human potential.
- To embrace the beauty of life, one must view it as an adventure.
- In order to protect everything, we must be willing to risk it all.
- Those who set out into the unknown must be content with solitary adventures.
Farewell Words in Travel
- The final goodbye is typically a one-sided conversation, accompanied by tears from one side.
- In every farewell, there is a gathering where friends come together to bid farewell to someone special.
- The departure lounge is not limited to an airport; it represents life in its entirety.
- I despise farewell ceremonies; we do not truly say goodbye to those we love, as we never really part ways. Farewells are for strangers, not for loved ones.
Poems about Travel
Poem of Travel in the Dark Nights
By Farouk Goweda:
And tomorrow you travel
While our wishes around us… dissolve confused
And the longing within us wounds our souls
And ravages our hearts
Nothing remains of your shadows
Except the silhouette of a smile
That lingers on my face, offering solace
And hoping… for a safe journey
And tomorrow we’ll ride on the waves of life…
Unaware of the harbor
And all lifelines have gone astray
Why didn’t you teach me to swim in the seas?
Why didn’t you teach me to live without sun or daylight?
And patience… oh patience, a false dream…
And an enduring torment with no refuge… like destruction
And tomorrow you travel
While my wishes dissolve around me
Do you know how passion can assassinate
The pulse… of hearts?
And now I gather in my bags
The fragrance of days… of love
And on the seats, memories have slept
On the bosom of wishes…
I never thought we would one day
Return… before our journey’s end
And at the conclusion, we carry the past
Small… has perished from us in the fire…
Longing travels in our pages
And love weeps every time we near our end
And hastens… towards us…
And the clock hands fall silent…
Time may get lost…
The night train may leave
We may forget… and return home
The path darkens around us…
Who will illuminate
This path… with love like ours?!
The road has sworn to confront
Everything… after us
And there, in the midst of the road, a shrub
How it has sheltered amidst our wishes… our lifespan
Our poor lamp bid farewell to its pulse…
And we have shared the light’s fragrance.. among us
Our humble home’s balconies have shattered…
Our dreams lived and tasted our cup
And the buds of spring among its tears
Still embrace me… and ask: Will we return one day… to our home?!
Shakespeare at Heathrow Airport
By Mohammed Al-Harthi:
In the departure lounge, a wooden gate
Catches the eyes of travelers into its narrow confines
And its lit vaults adorned with lanterns
To the overflowing cups
Of swirling oils and waters
Where life blossoms in its first cradle, in its final resting place
Before takeoff, it breathes its mixed air,
Its fragrant air of timeless essence
With Hamlet
Infused with morning threads and needles
In the shirt oblivious to its two neglected pomegranates
With the scent of Poème
In the departure lounge
Where weary travelers gaze
At screens and duty-free shops,
From long journeys between Asia and the Americas…
From their children’s dirty clothes,
And the complaints of their plump wives, tired of sitting
On the overflowing seats with “No Smoking” signs
When a flight is delayed to
Kuala Lumpur, Antigua, Dubai
Philadelphia
And Copenhagen
They enter successively into the fragrance of a knight and horse
Successively.
