The Most Beautiful Prayer for a Peaceful Heart

The Most Beautiful Supplications for a Peaceful Heart

While the Sunnah does not specify particular supplications for achieving peace of heart, a variety of prayers for alleviating distress can be drawn from it. Among the most beautiful of these supplications are:

  • O Allah, make my grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise and do not make it a pit from the pits of Hell.
  • O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the trials of this world. Strengthen our faith, unify our words, and grant us victory over Your enemies and the enemies of our religion. Scatter their ranks and turn them against each other. O Allah, support our Muslim brothers everywhere.
  • O Allah, have mercy on our fathers and mothers, forgive them, pardon their misdeeds, and admit them into Your vast gardens. Unite us with them, O Lord of the worlds.
  • O Allah, grant me good news as You granted Jacob good news about Joseph, and grant me joy as You granted Zechariah good news about John.
  • I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him for what displeases Him, in word and action, in thought and appearance.
  • O Allah, forgive the Muslim men and women, and the believing men and women, both the living and the dead.
  • O Allah, to You I stretch out my hands, and in that which You possess I place my hopes. Accept my repentance, have mercy on my weakness, forgive my sins, accept my excuses, and grant me a share of all that is good, and a path to all that is righteous, through Your mercy O Most Merciful of the merciful.
  • O Allah, grant me repentance before death, martyrdom at death, and Paradise after death.
  • O Allah, I ask You, O Disperser of worries, O Revealer of distress, O Answerer of the prayers of the distressed, O Merciful of this world, O Merciful of the Hereafter, have mercy on me with Your mercy.
  • O Allah, grant me contentment and tranquility of mind. Do not break my back, make my needs difficult, or burden me with great matters. Do not diminish my stature, uncover my veil, or expose my secrets.
  • O Allah, in my prayers and supplications, I ask for blessings that cleanse my heart, reveal my distress, forgive my sins, set my affairs aright, enrich my poverty, ward off my evils, uncover my worries and sadness, heal my ailments, settle my debts, lighten my grief, unite my family, and brighten my face.
  • O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every obligation I have neglected during the night and day, whether accidentally or intentionally, whether through forgetfulness or ignorance. I seek Your forgiveness for abandoning any of the Sunnahs of Your Messenger, the Seal of the Prophets, our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), due to negligence, distraction, forgetfulness, or a lack of attention.
  • O Allah, if I have disobeyed You openly, forgive me, and if I have disobeyed You in secret, cover me. Do not make my calamity in my religion, nor let the world be my greatest concern. Don’t make my affliction in my body, money, or family.
  • I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as my Prophet.
  • O Allah, I ask You for patience in times of decree, the ranks of martyrs, a life of happiness, victory over enemies, and companionship of the prophets, O Lord of the worlds.
  • O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. I plead for pardon and wellness in my religion, my life, my family, and my wealth. Conceal my faults and secure my fears. Protect me from all directions: from in front, behind, to my right, to my left, and above me, and I seek refuge in Your majesty from being taken by surprise from beneath me.
  • O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin I approached with my feet, extended my hands toward, looked at, listened to, spoke of, or wasted what You provided me. After I disobeyed You, You continued to give me. Then, I sought help from Your provision to defy You and You covered my sins. I asked You for increase, and You did not deny me. You continue to return Your kindness and generosity upon me, O Most Generous of those who give.
  • O Allah, I seek forgiveness for every wrongdoing I committed during the brightness of the day or the darkness of the night, in private and in public, while You were watching.
  • O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, Michael, Israfil, and Azrael, protect me from the trials of this world, guide me to what You love and please, and grant me steadfastness in speech during this life and in the Hereafter. Do not misguide me after You have guided me, and be my helper, protector, supporter, and supporter.
  • O Allah, You are the Forbearing, do not rush. You are Generous, do not withhold. You are Mighty, do not humiliate. You are Secure, do not frighten. You are Powerful over everything.
  • O Allah, grant me a good ending. Let me die in prostration to You, O Most Merciful of the merciful, and strengthen me when questioned by the angels.
  • Do not deprive us of the vastness of Your mercy, the abundance of Your blessings, the completeness of Your well-being, and the greatness of Your gifts. Do not withhold Your gifts from me due to my shortcomings, nor judge me based on my poor deeds. Do not redirect Your noble face away from me with Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
  • O Allah, I have neither the strength for hardship nor the ability to endure trials, so grant me health and provision. Do not leave me to Your creation; rather, attend to my needs solely and envelop me with Your mercy. If You leave me to myself, I will fail at fulfilling my tasks, and if You leave me to Your creations, they will oppress me, deprive me, and belittle me. Through Your grace, O Allah, make me self-sufficient, and cover for me. Protect me from their envy and hatred. Let my satisfaction be with that which comes from You, bless me in what You have provided me and what You have entrusted me with, and guard me in all my states. For every obligation upon me in facing You or in dealing with Your creations, fulfill it for me, for You know the magnitude of my weakness, the multitude of my sins, the frailty of my body, strength, carelessness, and support. Fulfill what they (creations) owe me in my obedience to You, for You are All-Encompassing and Generous.
  • O Allah, O Comforter of every lonely person, O Companion of the forsaken, O Refuge of every fearful one, O Revealer of every distress, I ask You to instill hope in my heart so that I have no worry or preoccupation but You. I ask You to provide for me a way out and relief from my affairs. You are indeed capable of all things.
  • O Allah, bestow upon my soul its piety and purify it, for You are the best to purify it; You are its Guardian and Protector. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge that does not benefit, and a heart that does not tremble, and a soul that is never satisfied, and a supplication that is not answered. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have yet to do, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I know and the evil of what I do not know. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the loss of Your blessing, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your retribution, and all of Your displeasure.
  • There is no deity but Allah, the Forbearing and Generous. There is no deity but Allah, the Most High, the Great. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the mighty Throne.
  • My Lord, I ask You to ease my heart and mind, and to dispel the scattered thoughts from me. My Lord, there are matters in my heart that only You know; grant them to me, O Most Merciful. My Lord, be with me in the most challenging circumstances and show me your miraculous power on the hardest of days.
  • O Allah, we ask You for an increase in faith, blessings in life, health in body, abundant provision, repentance before death, martyrdom at death, forgiveness after death, pardon at the reckoning, safety from punishment, a share of Paradise, and grant us the pleasure of looking upon Your noble face. O Allah, have mercy on our deceased and the deceased of the believers, and heal our sick and the sick among all people.
  • O Allah, have mercy on our deceased and the deceased of the Muslims, and heal our sick and the sick of the Muslims.
  • There is no deity but Allah, the True King, the Clear Truth. There is no deity but Allah, the Just Certainty. There is no deity but Allah, our Lord and the Lord of our ancient fathers. Glorious are You; indeed, I was among the wrongdoers. There is no deity but Allah, Who is One, with no partner. His is the dominion and praise; He gives life and causes death, and He is Alive, never to die. In His hands is all good, and to Him is the final destination, and He is capable of all things.
  • O Allah, O Facilitator of every hardship, O Softener of iron, O Fulfiller of promises, O Who is always in a new matter, take me from the depths of narrowness to the expanse of ease. With You, I repel what I cannot bear; there is no power and no strength except through Allah, the Most High, the Great.
  • O Allah, there is no guide for whom You have led astray, nor can anyone give what You have withheld, nor can anyone withhold what You have granted, nor can anyone extend what You have retracted, nor can anyone hasten what You have postponed, nor delay what You have rushed.
  • In the Name of Allah, the Best Names; in the name of Allah, with whom nothing harms in the earth nor in the heavens; in the Name of Allah, I begin and with Allah, I conclude and in Him, I have faith. In the Name of Allah, I awaken, and upon Allah, I rely, He is Allah, my Lord; I do not associate anyone with Him. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. In the Name of Allah, upon myself and my religion; in the Name of Allah, on everything my Lord has given me; in the Name of Allah, the Best Names; in the name of Allah, with whom nothing harms in the earth nor in the heavens; in the Name of Allah, I start and upon Allah, I rely. Allah, Allah is my Lord; I do not associate anyone with Him. O Allah, I ask for Your goodness from Your goodness that no one gives besides You. Your honor is elevated, and Your praise is grand, and there is no deity but You. Make me in Your refuge from the evil of every ruler and from the accursed devil. O Allah, I seek protection with You from the evil of all whom You have created, and I flee from them to You.
  • O Allah, I ask for forgiveness that will ease my heart, elevate my mention, facilitate my affairs, relieve my distress, and raise my burden. You are indeed capable of all things.
  • O Gentle One, I am confused in my affairs, so guide me with Your subtle grace, and the gentle craft of Your divine will in all my matters and what I endure. I seek Your help in lifting every haze; ease for me, by Your kindness, every hardship. Indeed, easing the hard is easy for You. O Allah, make a barrier of Your kindness between me and what harms me and those who transgress against me.
  • O Allah, O Disperser of worries, O Revealer of distress, Answerer of the calls of the distressed, Merciful in this world and the Hereafter, have mercy upon me with a mercy from You that will suffice me from the mercy of others. O Allah, reveal my distress, O Reliever of worries. There is no deity but You; glory be to You; indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.

The Most Beautiful Supplications for a Peaceful Heart from the Sunnah

The Sunnah contains numerous supplications that our Messenger, peace be upon him, recommended we invoke, including:

  • (O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maid servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree over me is fulfilled. Your judgment is just. I ask You by every name that belongs to You, which You have named Yourself, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have taught to any one of Your creations, or that You have kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banishment of my sadness, and the removal of my worry.)
  • (There is no deity but Allah, the Most Great, the Most Forbearing. There is no deity but Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and the Lord of the mighty Throne.)
  • (O Allah, I ask You, for You are the Praiseworthy. There is no deity but You, the Giver of grace, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of glory and honor. O Living, O Sustainer, I ask You.)
  • (O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the mighty Throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything, You are the Most Manifest and there is nothing above You, and You are the Most Hidden and there is nothing below You. You are the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Criterion. The Splitter of the seed and the date stone, I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything that You have taken by the forelock. You are the First, and there is nothing before You, and you are the Last, and there is nothing after You. Settle our debts and free us from poverty.)
  • (O Allah, Master of the kingdom, You give kingship to whom You will and take kingship from whom You will, You honor whom You will and humiliate whom You will. In Your Hand is all good; You are All-Powerful over everything. You are the Merciful of this world and the Hereafter; You give to whom You will and withhold from whom You will. Have mercy on me with a mercy that will be sufficient for me from the mercy of others.)
