Motherhood: A Divine Blessing

The role of a mother represents one of the most beautiful blessings bestowed upon us by God in this life. A mother is someone who gives without expecting anything in return. The words penned down about mothers, though abundant, can hardly capture their essence. Thus, we can only express our gratitude to the Almighty for this invaluable gift and offer our deep prayers for our mothers. In this article, you will find some of the most heartfelt supplications dedicated to mothers.

Supplications for Parents

  • O Allah, for every recitation we’ve made and justified, every prayer we’ve offered and accepted, every charity we’ve given and magnified, and every good deed we’ve performed and You were pleased with, we ask You, O Allah, to grant our parents a greater share than ours, a more generous division than our own, and a more bountiful reward than ours. Indeed, You have enjoined us to honor them and urged us to be grateful to them, and You are the most deserving of honoring those who honor.
  • O Allah, You who have declared, and Your word is the truth, “And be good to parents,” we ask You for Your pleasure, and thus the pleasure of our parents. O Allah, forgive our parents, have mercy on them, and overlook their shortcomings in this world. O Allah, forgive our living parents and those who have passed away.
  • O Allah, make us the most beloved to our parents and the closest of their children. Bless us in our caring for them and our attentiveness towards them. O Allah, do not let wealth, spouses, or children distract us from them. Grant us the ability to be dutiful to them in their lives and after their passing.
  • O Allah, may we be a source of joy for them on the Day of Judgment. O Allah, grant them the sweetest of calls on the Day of Gathering, and make them among the most envied parents for their children, so that You may unite us with them and all Muslims in Your abode of honor, in the sanctuary of Your mercy, and among Your chosen ones, with those You have blessed from among the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. Excellent are these companions. This is the grace of Allah, and Allah is All-Knowing.
  • O Allah, reward them many times over for the kindness they showed us. O Allah, look upon them with mercy as they looked upon us with compassion. O Allah, bestow upon them what they missed of Your rights due to their devotion to our upbringing. O Allah, forgive them for any shortcomings in serving You compared to the care they provided us.
  • O Allah, have mercy on our parents. O Allah, have mercy on our parents. O Allah, have mercy on our parents. Forgive them, and be pleased with them; let Your abundant pleasure envelop them and admit them into Your abode of honor, security, and the realms of Your forgiveness, showering them with the blessings of Your generosity and kindness.
  • O Allah, grant them the best reward for their efforts on our behalf and the care they provided us; the best rewards of those who strive for improvement and divine guidance.
  • O Allah, assist us along with our spouses and children in honoring our parents, and grant our parents the love of our spouses and children. O Allah, guide us back to our parents with kindness. Let not our hands be raised against them, nor our voices raised above theirs. O Allah, relieve those of our parents who are burdened with worries; grant ease to those who are indebted; and restore health to those who are ill. O Allah, make our parents among the happiest of the happy, and do not allow them to bear the sorrow of this world combined with the torment of the Hereafter through Your mercy, O Most Merciful.
  • O Allah, have mercy, have mercy, O Allah, and grant us and them a good end. O Allah, do not cause us to mourn the loss of our parents. Make us a source of pride for our parents after their passing through our righteousness, prayers, and charity. O Allah, grant them the pleasure of what they wish for us in this world.
  • O Allah, do not hold them accountable for the excesses of love that might have influenced their hearts towards us. O Allah, be kind to them as they were kind to us in their lifetimes.
  • O Allah, for every act of obedience You have guided us to, every good deed facilitated for us, every prayer we have succeeded in, and every drawing closer to You achieved, we ask that they have a share in it. And for every wrongdoing we have committed, every sin we have taken on, let not their burdens be added to our own.
  • O Allah, as You brought them joy in our lives, grant them joy in the afterlife. O Allah, do not let them hear news of us that would sadden them, nor let them bear the burdens of our mistakes. O Allah, bring joy to their spirits through our actions, when the souls of the righteous rejoice for the children of the righteous.
  • O Allah, forgive them with a comprehensive forgiveness that erases their past sins and the bad habits they held onto. O Allah, shower them with a mercy that will illuminate their resting places in their graves and grant them safety on the Day of Resurrection.
  • O Allah, have compassion for their weaknesses just as they were compassionate towards our weaknesses. O Allah, have mercy on their reliance upon You as they once relied on us. O Allah, be gentle with them as they were gentle with us in our youth. O Allah, preserve the love they held in their hearts, the tenderness they nurtured within them, and the kindness that guided their actions.
