The Best Invocation for Abundance
The Holy Quran explicitly clarifies that gratitude and seeking forgiveness are significant contributors to divine sustenance. Additionally, Muslims can engage in various forms of remembrance (dhikr) of Allah – the Exalted – as we will discuss below:
Seeking Forgiveness
Seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) serves as a means to attain God’s provision, including rain, wealth, and offspring in this life, as well as paradise and rivers in the afterlife. This is supported by the verse from the Quran: “Say, ‘Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is Ever-Forgiving. He will send rain to you in [continuing] showers and give you increase in wealth and children and gardens and springs’” (Quran 71:10-12).
Gratitude
Another essential remembrance that leads to an increase in God’s provisions for individuals is expressing gratitude for His blessings. This is clearly stated in the Quranic verse: “And [mention] when your Lord proclaimed: ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase your favor upon you; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe'” (Quran 14:7).
Supplications from the Prophetic Sunnah for Abundance
Here are some established supplications from the Sunnah that can be utilized regardless of circumstances:
- “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from the burden of debt, and the dominance of people.”
- “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness and decline, from sin and debt, from the trial of the grave, and the punishment of the grave, from the trial of the Fire and its punishment, and from the evil trial of wealth. I seek refuge in You from the trial of poverty and from the trial of the Antichrist. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow and hail, and cleanse my heart from sins as You have cleansed the white garment from dirt; and distance me from my sins as far as You have distanced the east from the west.”
- “O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and Lord of the magnificent Throne, our Lord and the Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, and the Revealer of the Torah, Gospel, and Criterion, I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You are grasping by its forelock. O Allah, You are the First; there is nothing before You. You are the Last; there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest; there is nothing above You. You are the Hidden; there is nothing below You. Clear our debts and enrich us from poverty.”
- “O Allah, suffice me with what is lawful against what is prohibited, and enrich me with Your grace from all but You.”
- “O Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me strength, provide for me, and elevate me.”
General Supplications for Attracting Abundance
Muslims are encouraged to invoke their Lord for sustenance in various phrases. Below are some examples of supplications that can be offered:

- “O Allah, provide us with lawful, wholesome, and blessed sustenance, as You love and are pleased with, O Lord of the worlds.”
- “Allah is sufficient for us; He will give us from His bounty, surely we are seeking Him.”
- “O Allah, if my provision is in the heavens, bring it down; and if it is on the earth, release it.”
- “O Allah, if my provision is distant, draw it near; if it is near, simplify it; if it is little, multiply it; and if it is abundant, bless me in it.”
- “All praise is due to Allah, who does not forget those who remember Him; all praise is due to Allah, who does not disappoint those who hope in Him; all praise is due to Allah, who suffices those who rely on Him.”
- “All praise is due to Allah, who, when we trust Him, does not leave us to anyone else, and all praise is due to Allah, who is our trust when our expectations are low due to our deeds.”
