Today, significant portions of the Old Town, known as The Old City, remain intact, characterized by medieval-style bridges on the right bank of the Aare River. The Old Town features towers, fountains, and covered walkways spanning six square kilometers, with structures that date back to the sixteenth century. Bern is also home to numerous historical landmarks, including the Town Hall, the Gothic Cathedral, the Federal Palace, and the Clock Tower.
