Prayers for the Night of Decree
The Night of Decree, known as Laylat al-Qadr, falls during the month of Ramadan and is considered one of the most significant and blessed nights, with worship during this time being better than a thousand months. This night marked the beginning of the Qur’an’s revelation to our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is essential for Muslims to engage in prayer, supplication, and Qur’anic recitation on this night, as it is a time when prayers are likely to be answered. Below are some supplications that Muslims may recite on this blessed night:
- O Allah, You are Forgiving and Generous, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me.
- O Allah, all praise is Yours; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. All praise is Yours; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. All praise is Yours; You are the King of the heavens and the earth and all that is within them. All praise is Yours; You are the Truth, and Your Meeting is the Truth, and Your Warning is the Truth, and the Punishment of the Grave is the Truth, and Paradise is the Truth, and Hellfire is the Truth, and the Hour is the Truth, and the Graves are the Truth, and Muhammad is the Truth.
- O Allah, I have believed in You, submitted to You, relied upon You, turned to You in repentance, and contested with You; so forgive me what I have done in the past and what I will do in the future, what I have hidden and what I have disclosed; You are the First and You are the Last; there is no deity but You, and there is no deity besides You.
- O Allah, we seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and we cannot enumerate Your praises; You are as You have praised Yourself.
- O Allah, do not make our trials in our religion, and do not make this world our greatest concern or the limit of our knowledge, and do not allow those who do not have mercy on us to dominate us.
- O Allah, whatever You have ordained in this night of knowledge, provision, reward, and well-being, grant us a generous share of it.
- O Allah, we ask You for the best of what Your servant and Messenger, our Master Muhammad (peace be upon him), has asked You for, and we seek refuge in You from the worst of what Your servant and Messenger, our Master Muhammad (peace be upon him), sought refuge from.
- O Allah, we ask You by Your mercy that encompasses all things to forgive us our sins, to expiate our misdeeds, and to manage our affairs.
- O Allah, raise our status, lighten our burdens, purify our hearts, protect our modesty, and forgive us our shortcomings.
- O Allah, keep us steadfast in our speech in this worldly life and in the Hereafter.
- O Allah, if tonight is the Night of Decree, then decree for me in it what You have decreed for the best.
- O Allah, open for me tonight the door to every good that You have opened for any of Your creation, Your allies, and those who obey You, and do not close it to me. Grant me a provision that will alleviate my needs from Your lawful, bountiful sustenance.
- O Allah, whatever good, health, and abundant provision You have granted this blessed night, make for me a portion of it, and avert from me any evil, calamity, or affliction that may befall me or my fellow Muslims.
- O Allah, accept from me any remembrance and gratitude I offer, and graciously receive it; and what I have wasted or neglected, forgive me in Your boundless mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- O Allah, envelop me with Your abundant generosity, make me among Your allies, and make this night better for me than a thousand months, with great rewards and bountiful gains.
- O Allah, forgive me, and do not let me depart from this night except with my sins forgiven, my endeavors accepted, my deeds cherished, my trade fruitful, my healing fulfilled, and my repentance sincere for Your glorious sake.
- O Allah, make me among those whom You glance upon with mercy, hear their prayers, and respond to them.
- O Allah, I ask You in this Night of Decree and its secrets, lights, and blessings to accept my supplications and fulfill my needs, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
