The Districts Comprising the Northern Badia

Northern Badia District
Situated in the eastern part of the Mafraq Governorate, the Northern Badia District was established in 1996. It consists of four sub-districts: Subhā, Um al-Jimal, Deir al-Kahf, and Um al-Qutayn.
Northwestern Badia District
This district lies to the northwest of the Mafraq Governorate and is composed of three sub-districts: Khalidiya, Sarhan, and Hoshan. Characterized by a hot desert climate in the summer and colder temperatures in the winter, this district also houses Al al-Bayt University.
Ruwaished District
The Ruwaished District comprises several key towns, including Ruwaished, Manshiyat al-Ghayath, Salhiya al-Naim, Al-Rawdah, Al-Risha al-Gharbiya, Al-Ruqban, Al-Thanaya, Al-Faydah, Al-Risha al-Sharqiya, Al-Karama, Al-Mashaqqiq, and Rawdat Ruwaished. This district shares borders with Iraq, Syria, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al-Jiza District
Located southeast of the capital city, Amman, the Al-Jiza District includes the following municipalities: New Jiza Municipality, New Um al-Rasas Municipality, and New Al-Amariyah Municipality.
Al-Muwaqqar District
This district is found in the southeastern region of Amman and consists of the following towns and villages: Muwaqqar, Al-Naqirah, Al-Faysaliyah, Makhaiir Mahna, Al-Dhaybah al-Sharqiya, Al-Mashash, Al-Manshiyah, Um Batmah, Al-Hatimiyah, Ghazalah, Al-Sumariyah, Rawdat al-Sahin, Al-Hanifiyah, Al-Falaj, Al-Zamilat, and Al-Mataba.

The Southern Badia encompasses several districts, which are listed below:
Al-Hasa District
Located approximately 40 km from the Tafila Governorate, the Al-Hasa District includes the areas of Al-Hasa, Al-Jurf, and Al-Aliya.
Al-Qatraneh District
This district is situated in the eastern part of Karak and consists of the towns and villages of Al-Qatraneh, Al-Sultani Dam, Al-Wadi Al-Abyad, and Qusur Bashir.
Al-Qweira District
Located about 50 km from the Aqaba Governorate, this district encompasses the areas of Al-Qweira, Al-Rashidiyah, Rum, New Hamimah, Dabbat Hanout, Al-Shakiriyah, Al-Salihiyah, Al-Asaliyah, Ain Al-Hawarah, and Hamimah.
Al-Husayniyah District
Positioned along the desert highway, this district includes the towns and villages of Al-Husayniyah, Al-Hashimiyah, Ayni-zah, Al-Fijij, Al-Dajjaniyah, Hadira, and Tall Barmah.
The Jordanian Badia
The Jordanian Badia represents a significant portion of the Kingdom of Jordan’s landscape, encompassing regions where annual precipitation falls below 200 mm. The climate is relatively arid, and these areas constitute about 90% of the total area of the Kingdom. In terms of administrative divisions, the Badia spans approximately 80% of the overall land area of Jordan.
It is important to note that the Badia is distinct from the desert, as it features various forms of plant and animal life. The regions within the Jordanian Badia are characterized by high daytime temperatures and cooler nighttime conditions, with an elevation ranging from 700 to 1100 meters above sea level.
