Verses to Nullify Magic, Evil Eye, Envy, and Possession

Verses for Nullifying Magic

The Holy Quran is a source of healing, due to its esteemed status and the blessings it conveys. When specific verses are read in relation to the afflicted, especially those targeting magic, it proves to be particularly effective. Allah, the Exalted, states: “And We reveal from the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers and it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.” The general principle regarding spiritual healing is permissibility, provided there is no association with shirk or forbidden practices. The Messenger of Allah said: “Present to me your healing methods; there is no harm in healing as long as it does not involve shirk.”

Below are verses that are recommended for seeking protection against magic:

  • Recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha.
  • The Throne Verse (Ayat Al-Kursi): Allah, the Exalted, states: “Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And Pharaoh said, ‘Bring to me every knowledgeable magician.’ When the magicians arrived, Moses said to them, ‘Throw down what you will throw.’ And when they had thrown, Moses said, ‘What you have brought is magic; indeed, Allah will invalidate it. Indeed, Allah does not establish the work of the corrupters. And Allah will manifest the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “They said, ‘O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw.’ He said, ‘Rather, you throw.’ So when they threw, their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were crawling. And Moses felt a fear within himself. We said, ‘Fear not; indeed, you are the most high. And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but a magician’s trick, and the magician will not succeed wherever he goes.’
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “By those lined up in rows and the ones who drive away the evil and recite the remembrance. Indeed, your God is One, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and the Lord of the Places of Sunrise. Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars and (placed) from every rebellious devil, protection from every rebellious devil. They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and are pelted from every side, driven away, and for them is a constant punishment. Except for one who snatches (some words) and is pursued by a burning flame.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “Say, ‘He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak from the evil of that which He created and from the evil of the darkness when it settles and from the evil of the blowers in knots and from the evil of an envier when he envies.'”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the chests of mankind, of jinn and mankind.'”
  • Additionally, reading other relevant verses is also beneficial and healing, with Allah’s permission.

Verses for Protecting Against the Evil Eye and Envy

Here are verses recommended for seeking refuge against the evil eye and envy:

  • Recitation of previously mentioned surahs and verses.
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. If you disclose what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it. Then He will forgive whom He wills and punish whom He wills, and Allah is over all things competent. The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. All of them believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, saying, ‘We make no distinction between any of His messengers.’ And they said, ‘We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination.’ Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what (good) it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what (evil) it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
  • Surah Al-Kafirun: Allah, the Exalted, states: “Say, ‘O disbelievers! I do not worship what you worship. And you are not worshippers of what I worship. And I will not be a worshipper of what you have worshipped. And you will not be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.'”

Verses for Nullifying Possessions

Here are some verses that can be recited to nullify possessions:

  • Recitation of all previously mentioned verses and surahs is beneficial and healing by Allah’s will.
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And We have made in the heaven constellations and We have beautified it for the observers. And We have protected it from every accursed devil, except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear flame.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And if an evil whisper comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And say, ‘My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils. And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.'”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And if they believe as you believe, they have been rightly guided; but if they turn away, they are in disagreement. And Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, there is no repeller of His bounty. He inflicts it upon whom He wills of His servants, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”
  • Allah, the Exalted, states: “And Allah is the Best of Guardians, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

In conclusion, we reflect on the eloquent words of Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim, who stated: “How can one withstand ailments against the words of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, which if revealed to mountains would shatter them, or to the earth would cut it? There is no ailment, be it of the heart or the body, that does not have a corresponding guidance or remedy within the Quran. Whoever is not healed by the Quran, then Allah has not given him healing, and whoever does not find it sufficient, then Allah has not provided sufficiency for him.”
