Supplications for the Month of Sha’ban
Only one specific supplication attributed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has been reported for the month of Sha’ban. According to Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: “O Allah, bless us in Rajab and Sha’ban, and let us reach Ramadan.”
Other common supplications should not be exclusively associated with this month, but Muslims are encouraged to pray freely in their own words for both worldly and spiritual benefits. They can also utilize any written supplications from religious texts or online sources without the belief that these are meant particularly for Sha’ban.
General Supplications During Sha’ban
There are numerous general supplications that Muslims may make during Sha’ban, including the following:
- O Allah, I ask You in this blessed month to shower me with Your mercy, to protect me with Your care, and to guide me on the straight path which I shall never deviate from.
- O Allah, in the month of Sha’ban, be my protector, supporter, and helper. I beseech You to safeguard me and my family from all evils. O Allah, I entrust my loved ones to You; do not allow me to see any harm befall them, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
- My Lord, I ask You in this holy month to expand my sustenance, to bless my offspring, and to make success and achievement my companions in all my endeavors, O Most Generous of the generous.
- O Allah, in the month of Sha’ban, I ask You to draw me closer to You, to provide me solace in Your presence, and to ensure that all my acts of worship are solely for Your noble sake, with no share for anyone else, O Lord of the worlds.
- O Allah, in this blessed month, I implore You by every name of Yours that You have invoked Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, to make the Holy Quran the springtime of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sorrow, and the relief from my worries and grief.
Supplications for Welcoming Ramadan
During Sha’ban, Muslims are encouraged to make any supplications they desire in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan. Some examples include:
- O Allah, grant us the blessing of Ramadan and make us among those who win Your approval, longing for Your forgiveness and mercy. O Allah, draw us nearer to You in this month, allow us to feel Your presence, and bestow upon us Your abundant blessings.
- O Allah, help us reach Ramadan, let us experience Laylat al-Qadr, and assist us in fully observing its prayers. O Allah, write us among those who are freed from the Hellfire on this blessed night.
- O Allah, let us reach Ramadan while being among the devoted, the steadfast, and the repentant. Make us among those who adhere to Your boundaries during this holy month.
- O Allah, allow us to witness Ramadan without any loss, and empower us to fast and pray, granting us the joy of worship and drawing us closer to You. Let us emerge from it as if we are born anew, with our sins forgiven.
- O Allah, let us welcome Ramadan with Your pleasure and grant us many more years of this month, making us among the ascetics and charitable givers, and among the repentant worshippers.
- O Allah, let the crescent moon of Ramadan appear over us with safety, goodness, and peace. O Allah, grant us a smooth entrance to Ramadan, and accept it from us, O Lord of the worlds.
