Input Devices
Input devices are defined as components that enable users to interact with a computer by providing various types of information, such as audio, video, or images. Below are some examples of different types of input devices for computers:
- Keyboard: The keyboard is a crucial input device that allows users to enter text and characters into the computer. It consists of keys for letters, numbers, and special symbols, as well as dedicated keys for specific functions like volume control.
- Mouse: The mouse is another essential input device, often referred to as a pointer. It enables users to interact with windows, files, and other elements displayed on the screen.
- Microphone: A microphone serves as an input device that captures audio from the user and transmits it to the computer.
Output Devices
Output devices are components within a computer that display and convey data to the user. Numerous examples of such devices exist; here are a few:
- Monitor: The monitor receives information from the computer and presents it to the user in a comprehensible format, such as text or images. It does not accept input from the user, functioning solely as a display and output device.
- Projector: A projector operates similarly to a monitor but is designed to display information on a larger surface, such as a wall.

Combined Input and Output Devices
Some devices can function as both input and output devices. An example of such a device is a DVD-RW drive, which can receive data from the computer and write it onto a rewritable disc. Another example is the USB flash drive, which also serves the dual purpose of input and output.
