Prayers for Calming a Child
Proven Prayers for Soothing a Child
The Quran serves as a remarkable source of comfort and reassurance. It is highly recommended to recite its verses to calm oneself and find solace. Below are the specific verses that the Prophet Muhammad advised as beneficial for reading to children:
- Reciting Surah Al-Fatiha for the child: Allah the Most High says: (In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray).
- Reciting the two protective Surahs (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) on the child. Surah Al-Falaq states: (Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn from the evil of what He has created, and from the evil of the darkening when it settles, and from the evil of the blowers in knots, and from the evil of an envious when he envies.”) And Surah An-Nas states: (Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, of jinn and of mankind.”).
- Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas: (Say, “He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.”).
- Reading Ayat Al-Kursi: (Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.).
- The last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah: (The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them believed in Allah and His angels and His Books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they said, “We hear and we obey. [Grant us] Your forgiveness, our Lord. To You is the final destination. Allah does not burden a soul beyond that it can bear. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, lay not upon us a burden like that which You had laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.).
