Abu Ya’rob Al-Marzouki
Mohamed Habib Al-Marzouki is a prominent Tunisian Arab philosopher, born on March 29, 1947, in the city of Bizerte. He practices Islam and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Sorbonne University in 1972. He subsequently completed his Ph.D. in both Arabic and Greek philosophy in 1991. Al-Marzouki specializes in Greek, Arabic, and German philosophy, and he adopts an Islamic philosophical approach that operates within a framework of structural and historical human thought unity.
Professional Life of Abu Ya’rob Al-Marzouki
From 1980 to 2006, he served as a professor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Tunis I. Additionally, Al-Marzouki was the director of the House of Wisdom (Institute of Translation) from 1983 to 1991. Between 2002 and 2006, he was also a professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia, teaching Philosophy. In 2011 and 2012, he was nominated by the Ennahda Movement Party as an independent member of the Tunisian National Constituent Assembly, where he led their list in the Tunis 1 electoral district.
