Trust in Allah
Trust in Allah is a characteristic of the righteous, including the Prophets and the devoted servants of God. It represents a noble form of worship that is attained by those who strive to deeply understand their Lord. As stated in the Holy Quran: “And whoever places their trust in Allah, He suffices them.” Muslims are encouraged to seek ways to enhance their faith and trust in their Creator to achieve success in this world and the hereafter. This article outlines some of the significant benefits of putting one’s trust in Allah.
The Benefits of Trust in Allah
Trust in Allah as a Means of Relieving Hardships
Those who have faith in Allah understand that He alone is the one who can alleviate their worries and resolve their difficulties, regardless of their duration or severity. This certainty and positive expectation of Allah’s mercy place the believer under His protection, allowing Him to remove burdens and grant total satisfaction with whatever Allah has decreed. Imam Muslim narrated in his authentic collection that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Amazing is the affair of the believer; all of his affair is good, and that is not the case with anyone except the believer. If something good comes to him, he is thankful, and that is good for him. If something harmful befalls him, he is patient, and that is good for him.”
Trust in Allah as a Pathway to Paradise and Salvation from Hellfire
He who places his trust in Allah will find that Allah supports and shelters him. Allah promises in the Quran: “Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.” An example of this is seen in the story of the Bedouin who had sincere faith when he chose to die in Allah’s cause rather than seek material gain, demonstrating profound trust in Allah when seeking martyrdom. He was martyred, achieving what he fervently wished for as a testament to his faith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) remarked, “He believed in Allah, and Allah fulfilled his truthfulness.”
Trust in Allah as a Means of Achieving One’s Goals
Placing trust in Allah while taking necessary precautions allows a believer to release their reliance on others, recognizing that their needs are ultimately in Allah’s hands. This faith leads to tranquility, contentment, and the removal of fear from the heart of the believer, even in the face of rejection from others. Allah says in the Quran: “And there is no creature on earth whose provision is not due from Allah; He knows its dwelling and its storage. All is in a clear record.” The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said: “If you were to truly place your trust in Allah, He would provide for you just as He provides for the birds, who go out hungry in the morning and return filled in the evening.”
Trust in Allah as a Contributor to the Acceptance of Supplications
Prayer is a reflection of sincere devotion to Allah, and those who attach their hearts to supplication are granted responses. Only those who trust in their Lord and have unwavering certainty in the acceptance of their requests will experience the virtue of answered prayers. They must recognize that when Allah intends a matter, He merely says “Be,” and it comes to be. They should be diligent in seeking opportunities for answered prayers, hoping that Allah will fulfill their requests. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Pray to Allah while you are certain of His response, and know that Allah does not respond to a supplication from a heart that is heedless and distracted.”
