Prayers for Deceased Parents from the Quran
No individual, regardless of generosity, can truly repay the kindness of their parents. However, one of the greatest gifts a person can offer their deceased parents is prayer and seeking forgiveness on their behalf. Below are some Quranic supplications that can be made for deceased parents:
- (And say, “My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.”).
- (My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established).
- (My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to work righteousness of which You will approve and admit me by Your mercy into the company of the righteous).
- (Our Lord, grant us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire).
- (Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or made a mistake. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people).
