Beautiful Short Prayers

Beautiful and Diverse Supplications

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) frequently recited numerous supplications, many of which have been documented in the Hadith. Below are some beautiful prayers for oneself that are found in the Sunnah:

  • (O Lord, forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and wealth).
  • (O Allah, guide me and make my actions firm).
  • (O Allah, grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and save us from the torment of the Fire).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your blessings, the change of Your wellness, the suddenness of Your wrath, and all Your displeasure).
  • (O Allah, I seek Your refuge from the evil of what I have done and the evil of what I have not done).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and sadness, from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and stinginess, and from the overpowering of debts and the tyranny of men).
  • (O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and grant me sustenance).
  • (O Turner of hearts, direct our hearts toward Your obedience).
  • (O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase my knowledge).
  • (O Allah, I have oppressed myself excessively, and none forgive sins except You; grant me mercy from Yourself, for You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, eyesight, tongue, heart, and from the evil of my fate).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evils of morality, actions, desires, and diseases).

Beautiful Supplications for Family and Loved Ones

One of the most beautiful gifts a person can offer to their family, loved ones, and friends is a prayer for their well-being in this life and the Hereafter. Here are some lovely supplications for one’s loved ones and friends:

  • (O Lord, forgive me and my parents).
  • (O Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was small).
  • (Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden as You did with those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear, and pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy on us; You are our protector, so help us against the disbelieving people).
  • (O Lord, inspire me to give thanks for Your favor that You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to perform righteous deeds that please You, and admit me into Your righteous servants by Your mercy).
  • (O Allah, set right my descendants; I have repented to You, and indeed I am among the Muslims).
  • (O Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and also make my descendants! Our Lord, and accept my supplication).
  • (Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on the Day the account is established).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for all good, both immediate and delayed, that which I know and that which I do not know; and I seek refuge in You from all evil, both immediate and delayed, that which I know and that which I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the good that Your servant and Prophet asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from the evil from which Your servant and Prophet sought refuge. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and for anything that brings me closer to it through speech or action. And I seek refuge in You from the Fire and anything that brings me closer to it through speech or action, and I ask You to make all that You have decreed on my behalf something good).
  • (O Allah, set right for us our religion, which is the safeguard of our affairs; set right for us our worldly life, in which is our livelihood; and set right for us our Hereafter, to which we return. And make our life an increase for us in all goodness and make death a release for us from all evil).
  • (O Allah, grant us goodness, happiness, and success in this life and the Hereafter).

Etiquettes of Supplication

When making supplications, Muslims should adhere to specific etiquettes to ensure acceptance and fulfillment. These etiquettes include the following:

  • Avoidance of consuming unlawful wealth.
  • Consistency in making supplications and not being impatient or despairing, as everything is decreed with the wisdom of Allah.
  • Sincerity in one’s supplications, as commanded by Allah: (And call upon Allah, sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it).
  • Avoiding sins and repenting while turning back to Allah.
  • Repeating prayers and insisting upon them.
  • Seeking the right times, places, and conditions for supplication.
  • Sticking to the prescribed prayers and refraining from misconstruing supplications, such as indulging in polytheism, creating innovative prayers, or asking for impossible things. Similarly, refrain from making requests that contradict the wisdom and commandments of Allah, such as asking Allah not to establish the Hour, maintaining decorum in supplication, and avoiding loud voices.
