The Most Beautiful Poetic Verse

The Most Beautiful Verses Praising the Prophet

  • By Al-Busiri:

How can the prophets ascend to your elevation,

O sky that no other sky can compare to?

They cannot match you in your greatness,

Your height surpasses any other glory.

Their attributes are merely reflections,

Just as the stars are mere reflections on water.

You are the beacon of all virtues; nothing shines

Except by the light that you provide.

  • By Al-Makzoun Al-Sinjari:

For Ahmad, there exists a magnificent description,

A Messenger, a Prophet, compassionate and merciful.

A martyr, a bearer of good news, a shining light,

All-hearing, all-seeing, all-aware, all-knowing.

A warning, a protector, a loyal friend,

One who guides, invites, and is nurturing.

A clear book, strong and trustworthy,

A secure place, a righteous path.

Grateful, enduring, dignified,

Praise-worthy, glorious, forgiving, and gentle.

The Most Beautiful Verses on Asceticism

  • By Abu Al-Ataheya:

By your life, this world is not a place of permanence,

Your abode is merely a dwelling of demise.

Do not fall in love with this world, dear brother,

For the lover of this world finds only hardship.

Its sweetness is mingled with bitterness,

And its pleasures intertwine with toil.

Do not walk one day in garments of illusion,

For you were created from clay and water.

Very few are those who express gratitude to God,

And fewer still who accept His decree.

  • By Ali ibn Abi Talib:

The soul laments the world, having learned,

That safety lies in leaving it behind.

No home exists for a person after death,

Except that which they built before their end.

If built upon goodness, its residence is pure,

But if constructed on sin, the builder shall be disappointed.

Where are the kings who once held dominion,

Only to be served death’s cup by the one who bears it?

We gather wealth for our heirs,

And build homes for the ruin of time.

The Most Beautiful Verses on Love

  • By Al-Mutanabbi:

For your eyes, the heart has endured both joy and sorrow,

And for love, I have reached the very limits of my being.

I was never one to let passion take hold,

Yet anyone who sees your gaze will surely fall in love.

Between contentment and anger, proximity and distance,

There lies a realm for the tears that flow.

The sweetest love is that which questions the connection,

And in separation, it is time that hopes and fears.

The anger from pride intoxicates from youth,

I have interceded for her with my youthful fervor.

  • By Antarah ibn Shaddad:

O ‘Abla, your love has surpassed boundaries,

And I am defined by my feelings for you, more than others.

O ‘Abla, your love flows within my bones and blood,

As my spirit courses through my body.

I have clung to the tail of the one who boasts,

Of the men of ‘Abd and the sword of his father that ended all.

O misfortune, draw me away from this lethal love,

For I shall ever increase my passion and desire.

O Saash, were it not for love’s command,

Antarah would have been strong enough to resist.

The Most Beautiful Verses on Friendship

  • By Abu Firasi Al-Hamdani:

I have a friend who stands by me through time,

And a companion in the face of calamities.

If only you could see me when my tears flow,

In the morning when I remember him, or in the evening.

I sip my tears with my companion from my cup,

And adorn the beads of my necklace with courage.

  • By Ibn Al-Wardi:

How many a sincere friend do you consider,

To be at ease, while he bears burdens and sorrows?

Do not envy the children of this world their blessings,

For none have attained the peace of the heart.

  • By Al-Buhturi:

How many friends have I known through another friend,

Who ended up being closer than the old friend?

And a companion I traveled with on the road,

After the journey, became the best of companions.
