The Most Beautiful Prayer for Friday

The Most Beautiful Prayer for Friday

The most beautiful prayers that a Muslim can recite are those that encompass the goodness of both this world and the Hereafter. Among such prayers are:

  • O Allah, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, the Possessor of Glory and Honor, guide us among those You have guided, grant us wellness among those You have granted wellbeing, and protect us from the evils of what You have decreed. Indeed, You decree with truth, and nothing can decree upon You. We believe in the Book You have revealed and in the Prophet You have sent. So forgive us our past and future sins, our concealed and our revealed transgressions. You are the One who advances and You are the One who delays, and You have power over all things.
  • O Allah, to You belongs the praise that fills the heavens, the earth, and everything in between, as well as whatever else You desire after that.
  • O Allah, I ask You, O Dispeller of distress, O Revealer of grief, O Answerer of the calls of the desperate, O Most Merciful in this world and the Hereafter, have mercy on me with Your mercy.
  • O Allah, grant us the pleasure of gazing upon Your noble face, and the longing to meet You, without going astray, nor being misled, nor being deceived. O Allah, shade us under Your shade on a day when there is no shade but Yours.
  • There is no deity but Allah, the Sovereign, the Absolute Truth. There is no deity but Allah, the Just, the Certainty. There is no deity but Allah, our Lord and the Lord of our forefathers. Glory be to You; indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers. There is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner. To Him belongs the sovereignty and the praise; He gives life and causes death. He is Alive and does not die; in His hand is goodness, and to Him is the return, and He is capable of all things.
  • O Lord, on this Friday, You promised Your servants that You would accept their prayers… I will pray for a heart close to my own. O Allah, grant him what he desires and fill his heart with what he longs for, making him as You wish. O Allah, decree this for him before the sun sets on Friday.
  • O Allah, do not deprive me of the vastness of Your mercy, the abundance of Your blessings, the completeness of Your wellbeing, and the generosity of Your gifts. Do not withhold Your bounties from me due to my shortcomings, nor repay me with the evil of my deeds. Do not turn Your noble face away from me in Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
  • Glory be to Allah, all praise is due to Allah, there is no deity but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise. • O Allah, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence, O Possessor of Glory and Honor, I ask You by Your greatest, most beloved name, that when You are called by it, You answer, and when mercy is sought through it, You grant it, and when relief is sought through it, You provide it. Forgive the mother who bore him and the father who raised him well, and make the highest paradise their abode.
  • In the name of Allah, we rise and we pass the night. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger, and that Paradise is true and Hellfire is true, and that the Hour is coming without doubt, and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves.

The Virtue of Supplication on Friday

There are numerous traditions regarding the virtues of Friday, including:

  • It has been reported from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that Friday contains an hour during which no Muslim servant stands in prayer and asks Allah for something except that it is granted to him. He even gestured with his hand to indicate it is a short time.
  • Additionally, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The best day upon which the sun has risen is Friday; on this day Adam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, and on it he was expelled from it.”
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “Whoever performs ablution and performs it well, then attends Friday and listens and remains silent, all his previous sins between this Friday and the next Friday, plus an additional three days, will be forgiven. And whoever touches the pebbles has engaged in vain talk.”
  • The five daily prayers, along with Friday to Friday, and Ramadan to Ramadan, serve as expiations for whatever occurs between them, as long as the major sins are avoided.

Recommended Practices on Friday

There are many Sunnah practices that Muslims are encouraged to observe on Friday, including:

  • It is recommended to increase the recitation of the Qur’an, remembrance, supplication, and sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), specifically reading Surah Al-Kahf on this day.
  • Be diligent in attending the congregational Fajr prayer.
  • It is Sunnah to perform Ghusl (ritual washing), as the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: “Ghusl on Friday is obligatory upon every adult.” Additionally, one should apply perfume, adorn oneself, and wear the best clothes, preferably white.
  • Engage in the Sunnah practices of fitrah, such as trimming the mustache, plucking the underarms, shaving the pubic area, and trimming the nails.
  • Approach the mosque with calmness and dignity.
  • Increase supplication and seek the moment of response, which is between the sermon and the prayer, as well as the last hour of Friday.
