The Most Beautiful Prayer for Relief

Supplications for Relief from the Quran and Sunnah

When an individual experiences adversity or distress, they often find themselves engulfed in pain, perceiving the world as dark and constricting. In such moments, they hasten to Allah – the Almighty – seeking His help through supplication and prayer, hoping for the alleviation of their trials. Here are some notable supplications for relief:

  • (Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy; indeed, You are the Bestower).
  • (O Turner of hearts, keep my heart steadfast in Your religion).
  • (Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant our feet firmly).
  • (There is no deity except You; glory be to You; indeed, I was among the wrongdoers), as the Messenger of Allah – peace be upon him – said in a narration: (No Muslim invokes his Lord with such supplication, except that He responds to him).
  • (O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, in Your mercy I seek help. Rectify all my affairs and do not leave me to myself, even for the blink of an eye).
  • (O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your decree upon me is continual, and Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, by which You have named Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to one of Your creations, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the removal of my sorrow, and the departure of my worries).
  • (O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, and Lord of the mighty throne, our Lord and the Lord of everything, the Splitter of the grain and the date seed, and the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Criterion, I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You have control over. O Allah, You are the First; nothing was before You, and You are the Last; nothing is after You, and You are the Most High; nothing is above You, and You are the Most Near; nothing is beneath You. Remove our debts and enrich us from poverty).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, incapacity and laziness, miserliness, cowardice, heavy debts, and the overpowering of men).
  • (There is no deity except Allah, the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is no deity except Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no deity except Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Lord of the noble throne).
  • (O Allah, O Allah, my Lord, I do not associate anything with You).
  • (O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light to my right, light to my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, and grant me abundant light. O Allah, grant me light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light to my right, and light to my left. Grant me light before me, light behind me, and increase me in light).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the punishment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its righteousness, and purify it; You are the best of those who purify it. You are its Guardian and Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, a heart that does not fear, a soul that does not feel satisfied, and a supplication that is not answered).
  • (O Allah, Your mercy is what I hope for, so do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye. Rectify all my affairs; there is no deity except You).
  • (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the extinction of Your blessing, the change of Your wellness, the suddenness of Your wrath, and all of Your displeasure).
  • (O Allah, all praise is due to You; there is no one who can withhold what You have granted or bring near what You have distanced, or distance what You have brought near, or give what You have withheld. O Allah, bestow upon us from Your blessings, mercy, and bounty, and provide for us. O Allah, I ask You for everlasting bliss that neither changes nor fades away; I ask You for bliss on the Day of Need and security on the Day of War. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what We have received and the evil of what You withheld from us. O Allah, make faith beloved to us and adorn it in our hearts, and make disbelief, immorality, and disobedience hateful to us, and make us among the righteous. O Allah, allow us to die as Muslims, and keep us alive as Muslims, and unite us with the righteous without disgrace or temptation).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter, O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my world, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, cover my faults, secure me from my fears, protect me from front and back, from my right and left, and from above, and I seek refuge in You from being taken by surprise from below).
  • (O Allah, indeed I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; my forelock is in Your hand; Your decree upon me is continual and Your judgment concerning me is just.
  • (O Allah, suffice me with what is lawful over what is prohibited and enrich me with Your favor from all others).
  • (O Allah, I ask You for every good, both immediate and deferred, what I am aware of and what I am unaware of, and I seek refuge in You from every evil, both immediate and deferred, what I am aware of and what I am unaware of. O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your servant and prophet sought refuge in, and I seek refuge in You from the worst of what Your servant and prophet sought refuge from. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and every statement and deed that brings me closer to it, and I seek refuge in You from Hellfire and every statement and deed that brings me closer to it. And I ask You to make every decree that You decide for me a good one).
  • (O Allah, with Your knowledge of the unseen, and Your power over creation, grant me life if You know that life is better for me, and cause me to die if You know that death is better for me. O Allah, I ask You for Your fear in the unseen and the visible, and I ask You for a sincere word in satisfaction and in anger, and I ask You for moderation in both poverty and wealth, and I ask You for enduring bliss and a delight that never ends, and I ask You for contentment with Your decree, and I ask You for the coolness of life after death, and I ask You for the pleasure of seeing You and longing for our meeting, without any harmful distress or misleading temptation. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us guides who are guided).

  • O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not fear, a supplication that does not get heard, a soul that is not satisfied, and knowledge that does not benefit; O Allah, I seek refuge in You from these four.
  • O Allah, forgive our missteps, overlook our errors, expiate our sins, and grant us death among the righteous, O Mighty One, Forgiver.
  • O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions.

Supplication: A Forgotten Act of Worship

Many individuals, when troubled, may be presented with the advice to turn to Allah through supplication. Yet, some appear frustrated and despondent, believing that this is not a solution to their problems, except those whom Allah has mercy upon. Indeed, supplication is one of the greatest forms of worship and a means of drawing closer to Allah, despite the fact that He is always closer to His servant than anyone else. Allah, the Almighty, has said: (And your Lord says, “Call upon Me; I will respond to you”). Therefore, anyone with a need should turn to Allah, take the necessary steps, have confidence in His response, seek out the appropriate times for supplication, be persistent in their prayers, and draw closer to Allah with humility and sincerity.
