Proofs of God’s Existence from the Quran

Evidence of God’s Existence in the Quran

Everything in the universe serves as evidence of the existence and oneness of Allah (Exalted is He). The Holy Quran contains numerous verses that substantiate this existence through practical and tangible evidence. Below are some selected verses that highlight the manifestations of creativity in the creation of the universe, humanity, livestock, and other creatures. These verses guide thoughtful readers to a singular conclusion: such meticulous creation must have a Creator, a notion that is apparent to every rational individual. Some of these verses include:

  • Allah (Exalted be He) states: (Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) declares: (He is Allah, there is no deity except Him, the All-Knowing of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. He is Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Guardian, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Supreme. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner. To Him belong the best names; whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise).

Evidence of Human Creation

Below are some verses that demonstrate Allah’s (Exalted be He) creation of humanity and the manifestations of His ability within:

  • Allah (Exalted be He) says: (Praise be to Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and light. Yet those who disbelieve equate others with their Lord. He is the One who created you from clay, then decreed a term, and a specified term is with Him. Yet you doubt. And He is Allah in the heavens and on the earth; He knows your secret and your public, and He knows what you earn).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) mentions: (He created the heavens and the earth in truth; Exalted is He above what they associate. He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once, he is a clear adversary. And the livestock, He created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat. And for you in them is beauty when you bring them in and when you send them out to pasture. And they carry your burdens to a land you could not reach except with great difficulty. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful. And the horses, mules, and donkeys are for you to ride and adornment. And He creates that of which you do not know. And upon Allah is the direction of the [right] path, and among them are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all).

Evidence of Creation of the Heavens and the Earth

Here are some verses indicating Allah’s (Exalted be He) creation of the heavens and the earth, signifying the existence of a singular, capable, and creative manufacturer, Allah (Glory be to Him):

  • Allah (Exalted be He) states: (Allah is the One who created the heavens and the earth and sent down from the heaven water, and produced thereby fruits for you as provision. And He has made subservient to you the ships to sail through the sea by His command, and made subservient to you the rivers. And He has made subservient to you the sun and the moon, constantly pursuing [their course]. And He has made subservient to you the night and the day. And He gives you from all you ask of Him. And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is, after all, an oppressor and a disbeliever).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) proclaims: (Say, “To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?” They will say, “To Allah.” Say, “Then will you not remember?” Say, “Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Great Throne?” They will say, “To Allah.” Say, “Then will you not fear Him?” Say, “In whose hand is the dominion of all things, and He protects while none can protect against Him, if you should know?” They will say, “To Allah.” Say, “Then how are you deluded?”).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) addresses: (Pharaoh said, “And what is the Lord of the worlds?” He said, “The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, if you should be convinced.” He said to those around him, “Do you not listen?” He said, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?” He said, “Indeed, your messenger who has been sent to you is a madman.” He said, “The Lord of the east and the west and whatever is between them, if you were to reason.”).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) affirms: (And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say, “Allah.” Say, “Praise be to Allah, but most of them do not know.”).
  • Allah (Exalted be He) questions: (Or were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.).
