Apology
An apology is a commendable gesture that can only stem from a strong, self-assured individual. Every person makes mistakes, but it is those who acknowledge their errors and apologize who redeem themselves. Friends deserve our apologies to preserve the bonds of friendship and maintain our relationships with them. Below are some heartfelt expressions of apology to a friend, alongside poetic verses on the subject.
Touching Apologies for Friends

Poetry of Apology
Apology by Nizar Qabbani
Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani composed an entire poem devoted to expressing his apologies to his beloved, entitled “Apology.” It is considered one of the masterpieces of apologetic literature. Nizar Qabbani (1923-1998) was a notable diplomat and contemporary Syrian poet, born into a prominent Damascene family. He begins his poem with the phrase “I extend my apology”:
Oh my friend, I have returned to offer you my apology.
Will you accept my apology?
I present it to you, and your sorrowful face shines like a winter sun,
And like the sun at the end of day.
For all the writings I have penned,
And for the foolishness I have committed.
For everything I had contemplated,
For everything I have caused,
To your pure and untainted being,
And for the dust I have stirred around you.
I extend my apology
For all the malevolent poems I have written
In moments of love… and moments of despair.
For poetry, my friend,
Is my refuge and my demise.
It is my sanctity… and my nakedness.
And I never wish for you, my friend,
To ever label me by my nakedness.
This is why I have come to you, my friend,
To present you with my apology.
“Forgive Me” by Ahmed Saad
In a poem published on December 28, 2017, by Ahmed Saad, the editor-in-chief of “Al-Arabi Al-Youm,” titled “Forgive Me,” we highlight some verses of apology:
Forgive me and overlook my mistakes,
Embrace me as I am, with my flaws.
Do not threaten me with your departure,
For I cannot bear to leave.
I despise the thought of you parting from me, even for a moment.
I know I have been selfish in my love,
And that I acted foolishly and animalistically.
My anxiety and volatility have caused you much distress.
I truly apologize to you, so please accept my apology.
Accept my sorrow, my regret,
And forgive me for my shortcomings and wrongdoings.
Do you believe that I do not appreciate your beauty enough,
And that I do not admire you properly or show you enough affection?
In my emotions with you, have I been stingy?
No, my love, do not believe that.
I love you immensely,
And I am deeply enamored with you.
I rely on you completely,
And with you, I am not stingy.
So forgive me and overlook my missteps.
I am truly sorry, my love.
Reflections on Apology
Reflection One
I apologize, yet words do not erase the scars; apologies do not bring light, nor do they eliminate darkness or erase transgressions. An apology is not merely a verse recited to the ears, played like a tune. I apologize for the words before they emerge, and for the lyrics when they are spoken, for the skies, for the light, for hope, and for my aching heart, longing and restless, for every small and grand sin, and for all kinds of people.
Reflection Two
From the depths of silence, erupts a moment of explosion and suffocation, from a drop of rain that disrupted the tranquil summer sky, compelled by a dark cloud. From a leaf that fell in the autumn of words, I declare to you: Oh beloved brother, I found you pulsating in my heart, amidst sighs and sobs, and in my tears, weighed down by regret.
I poured my sorrows, which continue to accumulate into infinity. I discovered you in my weary soul that inhabits my frail body, I found you, dear brother, in my veins and arteries. You have been the remedy for every wound I have bled throughout my years. You were the most skillful person at creating my smile and alleviating my gloom.
Ah, dear brother, I was unaware that something so simple could turn into a sharp sword thrust, leaving behind a bleeding wound that is hard to mend.
With all these words, I extend to you my sincere apologies, embodying the essence of human language. An acknowledgment of a thousand regrets, and a bouquet for the most admirable heart. So, dear one, is there any control in a moment of explosion? As long as we are human, fate will continue to dictate our paths.
Please, dear brother, I have never known your heart to burn with rage, nor have you wielded a sword to harm. Do not say you will leave; your departure’s echo is louder than the chaos of my existence, demolishing every castle of happiness we erected with the spirit that resides in our bodies, erasing the smiles that once adorned our lips.
I urge you, dear brother, do not interpret me as you please, nor cast asunder my humanity by your judgment. While it may be your nature to forgive, it does not imply my character is one of betrayal; rather, I vehemently reject it within my humanity.
Come on, smile, dear brother, and wipe the tear from your heart. Do not let life guide us to an uncertain time. Hurry to say you accept my apology, before life colors our moments with bitterness and slays every ambition that drove us to create the sweetest moments of our lives. Do not let us raise the flag of defeat. Here I am awaiting your response, dear brother and friend, and you know who you are to me.
