Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is renowned as one of the most stunning waterfalls globally, situated on the border between Ontario, Canada, and New York State, USA. The falls are divided into two main sections by Goat Island, with the larger Horseshoe Falls located on the Canadian side. This section boasts a height of approximately 56 meters and a crestline length of nearly 670 meters. In contrast, the adjacent American Falls on the right bank reach a height of around 58 meters. The water cascading over these magnificent falls is notable for its clarity and absence of sediment.
Angel Falls
Angel Falls, located in Bolívar State, Venezuela, is recognized as the tallest waterfall in the world, with a height of about 979 meters, according to National Geographic. The falls bear the name of American explorer and aviator Jimmy Angel, whose plane crashed in the area in 1937. Angel Falls features a steep drop, with the water plummeting nearly a kilometer, creating a mist-like cloud at its base. This remarkable height contributes to its reputation as one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is celebrated as one of the most magnificent waterfalls in the world, positioned on the Zambezi River, which forms the natural boundary between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the fourth largest river in Africa. It is the only waterfall in the world that exceeds one kilometer in length and features a drop of over 100 meters. The mist and cascading water can rise more than 400 meters into the air, and the roar of the falls can be heard from as far as 40 kilometers away, visible from a distance of 50 kilometers. This stunning waterfall was discovered by European explorer David Livingstone in 1855 while he was on a mission to spread Christianity in Africa. He wrote in 1857 that no one in England could fathom the beauty of this waterfall.
Iguzu Falls
Located on the border between Brazil and Argentina, Iguazu Falls consists of approximately 275 distinct waterfalls, with heights ranging between 60 and 82 meters. This stunning natural wonder is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world. As the mist disperses from the falls, it creates a series of breathtaking rainbows, adding to the area’s enchantment.
