The Life and Upbringing of Ahmed Khalil Shaheen

Ahmed, son of Khalil, son of Shaheen, son of Ahmad, son of Qubais, was born in Qena, Upper Egypt, in 1375 AH (1955 AD), to a religiously committed family renowned for its exemplary morals. From a young age, he regularly attended sessions with the late Sheikh Ahmed El-Sayed Kilan, may he rest in peace, to learn the Quran.

In just two years, he successfully memorized the Quran under the guidance of Sheikh Kilan. Tragically, his father passed away before he could complete his primary education; however, this loss did not deter him from continuing to excel in his studies. Subsequently, he moved to Sohag Governorate, where he studied for a period with the esteemed Sheikh Muhammad Abdel Rahman Al-Belini.

Following this, he relocated to Cairo to enhance his knowledge of the Quran. There, he enrolled in the Quranic Studies Institute at Al-Azhar University, where he studied the rules of Tajweed for two years and mastered various Quranic recitations over the course of three years, gaining an extensive understanding of Quranic sciences.

Ahmed Khalil Shaheen’s Professional Journey

Upon completing his studies, he traveled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he worked as a teacher specializing in Quranic education and interpretation. In addition to his teaching role, he organized multiple Quranic study circles in mosques and engaged in philanthropic endeavors, particularly at the Charity Center for Quranic Sciences affiliated with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

He took part in teaching workshops organized by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia and played a significant role in numerous conferences and seminars focused on the Quran, both domestically and internationally. Additionally, he was frequently invited as a reciter on the Quran Radio in Saudi Arabia, where he recorded a recitation of the Quran.

Despite his busy schedule, Ahmed participated in various competitions, some of the most notable include:

  • The Prince Salman Competition for Quran Memorization.
  • The National Guard Competition.
  • The Competition organized by the Quran Education Department in Riyadh.
