Children of the Prophet with Khadijah
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had three sons and four daughters, all from Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), except for Ibrahim. Here are some details about them:
- Qasim, by whom the Prophet was nicknamed, but he passed away at a young age.
- Abdullah, who was known as “Al-Tayyib” and “Al-Tahir,” as he was born after the advent of prophethood.
- Zainab, the eldest daughter of the Prophet. She embraced Islam alongside her father, despite the disbelief of her husband, Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi. She remained with him for some time in Mecca before joining her father in Medina. Abu al-As eventually accepted Islam and was reunited with Zainab. She passed away in the eighth year of the Hijra.
- Ruqayyah, who was the first wife of Uthman ibn Affan. She passed away during the Battle of Badr.
- Umm Kulthum, who became the wife of Uthman after the death of her sister Ruqayyah. Umm Kulthum lived until the ninth year of Hijra and did not have any children with Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).
- Fatimah, the youngest daughter of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and most resembling him. She married Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and had four children: Hasan, Husayn, Zainab, and Umm Kulthum. Fatimah died six months after the Prophet’s passing.
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid
Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and he held deep love for her. He did not marry any other wife while she was alive. He married her after she entrusted him with her trade, which he was blessed with by Allah. She expressed interest in him even before his prophethood. When revelation came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), Khadijah displayed remarkable wisdom and sound judgment, helping to reassure him that Allah would never let him down. Recognizing the truth of the revelation, she was the first to believe in him and support his mission.
Status of Khadijah bint Khuwaylid
The esteemed status of Khadijah in Islam is evident in the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who stated: “The best women of Paradise are four: Maryam bint ‘Imran, Khadijah bint Khuwaylid.” Furthermore, Allah sent the Angel Gabriel to her before her death to convey greetings from Him and to inform her of a palace in Paradise.
