Hadiths on Reliance on God
The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, contains several hadiths that highlight the virtue of reliance upon Allah. Below are a few notable examples:
- The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: (O so-and-so, when you go to your bed, say: ‘O Allah, I have surrendered my soul to You, I have turned my face to You, I have entrusted my affair to You, and I have sought refuge with You. There is no refuge or escape from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent. Verily, if you die during that night, you will die upon the natural disposition, and if you awaken, you will achieve a reward).
- The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stated: (Seventy thousand of my Ummah will enter Paradise without being held accountable). They asked: ‘Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?’ He responded: (They are those who do not seek ruqyah, do not practice superstition, do not cauterize, and upon their Lord, they rely).
- The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, remarked: (If you were to rely upon Allah with the reliance He deserves, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds; they leave in the morning empty and return full).
