Morning and Evening Remembrances
The practice of remembrances, or “adhkar,” is a form of worship that allows Muslims to draw closer to Allah (SWT). Many Muslims regularly recite morning and evening dhikrs, which offer immense rewards, guidance, success, and protection from harm. This article highlights the morning dhikrs that serve as a spiritual fortification for believers.

- (Allah, there is no deity but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.) Whoever recites this in the morning is protected from the jinn until evening, and whoever recites it in the evening is safeguarded from the jinn until morning.
- (Say, “He is Allah, One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.”)
- (Say, “I seek refuge with (Allah), the Lord of daybreak, from the evil of that which He created, and from the evil of darkness when it settles, and from the evil of the blowers in knots, and from the evil of an envier when he envies.”)
- (Say, “I seek refuge in (Allah), the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the retreating whisperer – who whispers in the breasts of mankind – of jinn and men.”) Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas and the two Mu’awwidhat (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) in the morning and evening suffices for protection against all things.
- We have entered the morning and the sovereignty belongs to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, there is no deity except Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things omnipotent. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what follows. I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what follows. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from laziness and the worst of old age, and I seek refuge in You from punishment in the fire and punishment in the grave.
- O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave; there is no deity except You.
- O Allah, whatever blessings I have seen this morning, or any of Your creation, they are from You alone without partner. To You belongs all praise and gratitude. Whoever recites this in the morning has fulfilled the gratitude required for that day.
- Allah is sufficient for me; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne. Whoever recites this, Allah will relieve him of what troubles him in this world and the Hereafter.
- In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can harm in the earth or in the heavens, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. Nothing can harm him from Allah.
- O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the present, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord of all things and Sovereign over them, I bear witness that there is no deity except You. I seek refuge with You from the evil of my soul and from the evil of the devil and his accomplices, and from committing oppression upon myself, or bringing it upon a Muslim.
- O Allah, with You we have entered the morning, and with You we have entered the evening, and with You we live, and with You we die, and to You is our return.
- We have awoken upon the fitrah (natural state) of Islam, upon the word of sincerity, upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and upon the millah (way) of our father Ibrahim, who was a true Muslim and was not of the polytheists.
- I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion, and Muhammad (peace be upon him) as my Prophet. Whoever recites this in the morning and evening, it becomes incumbent upon Allah to please him on the Day of Resurrection.
- Glory be to Allah and by His praise, counting the number of His creation, His contentment, the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words.
- O Allah, grant me health in my body; O Allah, grant me health in my hearing; O Allah, grant me health in my sight; there is no deity except You.
- O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my world, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults, and grant me peace from my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me, from behind me, on my right, on my left, and from above me. I seek refuge in Your greatness from being attacked from beneath me.
- O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, with Your mercy I seek help; rectify all my affairs for me and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.
- O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow; I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness; I seek refuge in You from cowardice and miserliness; I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and the oppression of men.
- We have awoken and the kingdom belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this day, its openings, and victories, its light, its blessings, and guidance, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of that which is therein and the evil of what follows.
- O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity except You, upon You I have relied, and You are the Lord of the Mighty Throne. Whatever Allah wills, happens, and what He does not will, does not happen. There is no power nor strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great. I know that Allah is capable of all things, and that Allah has comprehensive knowledge of all things. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil of every creature over which You have control; indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
- O Allah, I have entered the morning bearing witness to You, and I bear witness to the bearers of Your Throne, and Your angels, and all of Your creation, that You are Allah, there is no deity except You alone without partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and messenger. Whoever recites this is freed from the fire.
- O Allah, send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad. Whoever sends blessings upon me in the morning and in the evening will receive my intercession on the Day of Judgment.
- O Allah, we seek refuge in You from ascribing partners to You in anything we know, and we seek Your forgiveness for what we do not know.
- There is no deity except Allah alone; He has no partner; to Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is capable of all things. For him is the reward of freeing ten slaves, and it will be recorded for him one hundred good deeds while one hundred sins will be erased for him, and it will be a protection from the devil.
- I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
- O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity except You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I remain committed to Your covenant and promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sins, so forgive me; for none forgives sins except You. Whoever recites this with certainty in the evening and dies during that night will enter Paradise, just as if he recites it in the morning.
- O Lord, to You belongs all praise as it should be for the majesty of Your face and the greatness of Your sovereignty.
- Glory be to Allah and by His praise. Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever says: ‘Glory be to Allah and by His praise’ one hundred times in a day, will have his sins erased, even if they were like the foam of the sea.” (Agreed upon).
- I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Mighty, besides whom there is no deity, the Living, the Sustainer, and I turn to Him in repentance.
- When you lie down, perform ablution like that for prayer, lie on your right side, then say: O Allah, indeed I have surrendered myself to You, and entrusted my affairs to You, directed my face toward You, and turned my back to You, in hope and in fear of You; there is no refuge or escape from You except in You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.
