Prayers for Protecting Children from the Quran and Sunnah
Prayers for Protecting Children from the Quran
The Holy Quran contains numerous supplications that emphasize the importance of turning to Allah – Blessed and Exalted – for the safeguarding of children. Among these prayers are:
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – says: “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – states: “My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and many from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – mentions: “My Lord, grant me righteous offspring.”
- In the Noble Quran, Allah – Blessed and Exalted – says: “My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearing of supplication.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – says: “My Lord, make this city safe and protect me and my children from worshipping idols.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – says: “Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in a barren valley near Your Sacred House. Our Lord, that they may establish prayer, so make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that perhaps they will be grateful.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – states: “Our Lord, indeed, You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge. So forgive those who have repented and followed Your path, and save them from the punishment of Hellfire. Our Lord, and admit them into the Gardens of Eden which You have promised them, and whoever is righteous among their forefathers, their spouses, and their descendants. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.”
- Allah – Blessed and Exalted – says: “Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and of our descendants a Muslim [in submission] [nation] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.”
Prayers for Protecting Children from the Sunnah
The Sunnah of the Prophet contains various Hadiths that include supplications for children, such as:
- The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would seek refuge for Hasan and Husayn, saying: “Indeed, your father used to seek refuge for Ismail and Ishaq: ‘I seek refuge with the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous creature, and from every evil eye.’”
- Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) embraced me and said: ‘O Allah, teach him the Book.’”
Additionally, there are various remembrances and supplications that Muslims are encouraged to recite for protection from all harm, which can be read aloud to children as a form of blessing. These include:
- “O Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth, and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and the Lord of all things, splitter of the grain and the seed, and descender of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Criterion. I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything You take by the forelock. O Allah, You are the First; there is nothing before You, and You are the Last; there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest; there is nothing above You, and You are the Hidden; there is nothing below You. Free us from debt and enrich us from poverty.”
- “O Allah, I ask You for health in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and health in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, protect my private parts, as mentioned by Uthman. And keep me safe from my fears. O Allah, guard me from in front of me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being taken unaware from below.”
- “O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me health among those You have granted health, and take me into Your care among those You have taken into care. Bless me in what You have provided me, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed, for indeed You decree and nothing is decreed upon You. The one You take into Your care will never be humiliated. Blessed are You and exalted.”
- “I seek refuge with Allah and His might from the evil of that which I feel and fear.”
- “O Allah, rectify my religion, which is the safeguard of my affairs. Rectify my worldly matters, which is where I earn my livelihood. Rectify my Hereafter, in which I will return. Make my life a means of increasing in every good, and make my death a relief from every evil.”
- “Remove the affliction, Lord of mankind, and heal; You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing; a healing that leaves no ailment.”
- “O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me health in my hearing. O Allah, grant me health in my sight.”
- “I seek refuge with Allah, the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, from the accursed devil, from his insinuations, his blowing, and his breath.”
