Prayers That Soothe the Heart

Inspirational Supplications for Serenity

The Sunnah prophesies several supplications mentioned in the noble Hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Below are some of these prayers that can be recited for a tranquil heart and other blessings:

  • (O Allah, I ask You for all good, both immediate and delayed, of what I know and of what I do not know. And I seek refuge in You from all evil, both immediate and delayed, of what I know and of what I do not know. O Allah, I ask You for the best of what Your servant and prophet has asked You for, and I seek refuge in You from the evil from which Your servant and prophet sought refuge. O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and for all actions or words that may bring me closer to it, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and from all actions or words that may bring me closer to it. I ask You to make every decree You have ordained for me a source of goodness.)
  • (O Allah, grant my heart light, my tongue light, my hearing light, my sight light, above me light, below me light, to my right light, to my left light, in front of me light, behind me light. Grant me inner light and increase my light.)
  • (O Allah, I have wronged myself excessively, and no one forgives sins except You. Therefore, forgive me with a forgiveness from You, for You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.)
  • (O Allah, forgive me all my sins, small and large, my first and last, my public and private.)
  • (O Lord, forgive my mistakes and ignorance, and forgive my excesses in all matters. What You know better about me, O Allah, forgive my sins, my deliberate actions, my ignorance, and my frivolity; all of that is known to me. O Allah, forgive what I have done and delayed, what I have concealed and what I have revealed. You are the Expediter and You are the Delayer, and You have power over all things.)
  • (O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no deity but You. You created me, and I am Your servant, and I am trying to uphold my covenant and my promises to You as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done and acknowledge Your favours upon me, and I confess my sins. So forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You.)

The Prayer of Prophet Moses

The Quran specifically mentions the supplication of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) for serenity in verses 25 to 28 of Surah Taha, where Allah (the Exalted) has conveyed through His prophet: (He said, My Lord, expand for me my breast; and ease for me my task; and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech).

General Supplications for Serenity

A Muslim is blessed with the gifts of Islam and the remembrance of Allah. A servant’s heart finds peace when turning to Allah, the alleviator of worries and the one who brings tranquility to the hearts of His servants. Here are some general supplications that can be recited for this purpose:

  • O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and for all actions or words that may lead me towards it, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and from actions or words that may lead me towards it.
  • O Allah, guide us to what is right in our affairs, and ease for us answers to all our questions.
  • O Allah, do not leave us with any sins except that You forgive them, no worries except that You relieve them, and no debts except that You fulfill them.
  • O Allah, do not leave us with a sick person except that You heal them, nor a trial except that You grant them recovery, nor a stray person except that You guide them.
  • O Allah, keep the sorrows of this world away from our hearts, and keep our bodies safe from the fire of the Hereafter.
  • O Allah, do not leave us with any need in which we find goodness and in which You find satisfaction except that You fulfill it with Your grace, O Most Generous.
  • We ask You to respond to our supplications, fulfill our desires, and satisfy our needs.
  • O Allah, occupy us with Your remembrance away from all other distractions and guide us to obedience that leads to closeness to You.
  • O Lord, You are the Facilitator; ease my matters and fulfill my requests.
  • O Allah, make that which is good for me manifest in all my affairs.
  • O Allah, I ask You in my prayers and supplications for blessings that purify my heart, relieve my burdens, forgive my sins, and set my affairs right.
  • O Allah, we seek from You relief from our calamities, forgiveness for our sins, concealing our flaws, and repentance, and that You grant us healing and pardon.
  • O Allah, I ask You for what Your servant and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked from You, and I seek refuge with You from what Your servant and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) sought refuge from, and may any decree You have ordained for me end in righteousness.
