Sandler made his television debut in the 1987 sitcom “The Cosby Show,” portraying a friend of the Huxtable family. It was during one of his performances in Los Angeles that comedian Dennis Miller recognized his talent and recommended him for “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). In 1990, he was brought on as a writer for the sketch comedy show.
